I'm very sad he died. He was a very funny man who had addictions and a mental illness that caused him to forget that it's a permanent solution to a temporary problem. I'm sure he's been through bouts of this before and came through.

Just because it wasn't surprising doesn't mean it isn't sad. Inside the industry he was known as a depressive addict who stole jokes. He was a very good performer and will be missed.
Yes I do hear things. I work in post production and my husband is a writer, former stand up artist.
But hey, at least I can vouch that Nathan Fillion is a nice guy.
This is not to point the finger at Robin Williams but many people with mental illness use drugs and alcohol to self medicate. My sister is bipolar and used cocaine for years along with drinking excessively. People who are depressed self medicate also. Coke makes them happier. For a short while. Unfortunately the drugs are a temporary fix.
