Well, the weather is going to give us a huge slap in the face later today. Temp was 90 degrees yesterday. Today mid 70's with storms late today. And, wait for it.....
SNOW possibly on Thursday!!!! GAAAA!!!!
A high of maybe 40 with lows in the low 30's. I AM NOT READY FOR FALL!!!!

Hey Czech - Got any canning tips? I've been thinking of getting into it.

Not sure yet. I'll have to think about it. I'm more interesting in canning prepared sauces and such than plain veggies/fruits. Though I would love to can strawberries so I can have fresh, yummy strawberries year-round
I really want to learn how to make pickles. I'd also love to know if my from-scratch alfredo sauce could be canned. I don't make it often but I'd love it if I could just pull a jar from the shelf when I want alfredo. I also have a recipe for spaghetti sauce that I want to try and if it's yummy, I'd want to can that too. If they make small canning jars, I'm sure DH would love to have prepared batches of buffalo sauce.
I've also been thinking about making my own jellies/jams but haven't done enough research into what all I'd have to do.
I make my own pumpkin puree and it would make DH really happy if that could be canned so it doesn't take up freezer space. Pumpkins have hit the stores so maybe this would be a good first step for a first-timer? How long would it be good for do you think?
I think some things would have a short shelf life since you aren't adding preservatives. When I had a separate upright freezer I was the freezer jam queen, lol.
