DD is getting on my nerves. She was supposed to come over and cook me dinner. She is here with a friend in tow because lord help her if she does something food related without friend to come stuff her face. Now DD is being bitchy because friend always overpowers anything she does and then DD ends up being her servant.
Next vent. My coworker is just so annoying. I have worked with this man for 15 years and he will never change.
A little family info....His daughter just had baby number 4. # dads. She still lives with them (she's 27ish). Now her car doesn't work, he wrecked his car (drunk) when his dd was having baby #3 last year. The daughter had gotten section 8 housing after their home was seized by the government (Not paying taxes), and then they all were living there illegally. Well they lost the housing because while they were all living there his adult son tried to kill someone so now he is in jail. His wife's car died so they are all sharing one vehicle. His wife also works at our place in another department.
He has changed his shift. Without manager approval. To suit his wife's schedule. Management said something and he gave his sob story about the one vehicle situation so they told him he could switch temporarily. Than was a few months ago. He comes in when he pleases and then rushes out the door when his wife is ready to leave. Doesn't matter if it's early and there is still work.
They are changing our schedules to where we are there 24/7. EVERYONE has to take a turn at the late shift. He just told management that (they) (his wife and daughter) told him he can't work late shift.
His wife is nasty, she cheats on him, everyone knows but him. His daughter is nasty, she lies and says she's going to work and leaves the kids with him to babysit and has more babies. He is nasty, comes to work smelling like alcohol. I am so sick of his family freaking trying to run my department to suit their lives. He is going to get himself fired and he doesn't even care!!

She is here with a friend in tow because lord help her if she does something food related without friend to come stuff her face. Now DD is being bitchy because friend always overpowers anything she does and then DD ends up being her servant.
This is your house, right? Friend needs to be told you want some mother/daughter time.

Printer is still broken at work. Three weeks now. Our boss got all over I.S. today. They came to the department with their panties in a wad and still haven't solved the problem. We have our print jobs going to another printer so we have to go fetch every time we need something. It is such a huge pain.

Ugh. I feel your pain. One place I worked, our printer broke and they had to order a part for it. They re routed all our printing to another offIce..........that was a 20 minute drive one-way. That was an annoying week
The dog chewed up DD's retainer container. Luckily, I caught him before he chewed her retainers. They are $125.00 a piece!!! She's darn lucky I'm not killing her right now.

Ours is just a few hundred steps but then you end up having to chat with the secretary up there. I pulled something in my leg or foot and was limping all day so those few hundred steps several times were exhausting with a limp.

Decent printers are very cheap. Maybe they should just spring $100 for a new one? Think of the cost of all that wasted people time.

We print over 1,000 pages a week. A cheap printer would be useless. Plus we are networked with dozens of other printers, I doubt a cheap one could do that.
However, since the one you have does print from computers in other places, it's not the printer that's the problem, it's settings or a disconnected Ethernet cable. Your IT people should be able to troubleshoot this very quickly. I know either of my sons could.

If your office computers are set up to talk to the printer through your Ethernet cables, and someone else set their computer to talk to it using its' wireless function,
that could have shut off the Ethernet setup.
My HP printer (the workhorse I use all the time) can't be set up to take both. So I have it set up on all our computers to use wireless.

No clue what has gone wrong. We have had this printer a while. It has worked fairly well over the past few years. Our computer is ancient, I bet that's where the problem is. The I.S. guys printed a test sheet from the printer itself yesterday so we know it has something to do with a cable or programming somewhere. I have a hurt ankle so people are getting me my documents because that short walk seems like a mile when I limp there.
Efffing teenager from across the street just ran through my yard and threw a piece of trash down. I was standing at the kitchen window so I banged on it real hard. He stopped, looked over toward the window and I shook my finger at him and he ran back and picked it up. If he ever does that again I will return the trash to his parents.
We currently have a house for rent. My mom handles all inquiries. However, she doesn't delete messages from the answering machine, so right now, the machine is full and the phone just keeps ringing and ringing and ringing. It's so annoying. Why can't she just write down the name and number then delete the message?

When you decide to wander off for 45 minutes, how about TELLING me where you are going???
flan
Why? Are you the supervisor?
I am not, BUT I can tell you that is NOT professional behavior. She's started making a habit of it. I'm fine by myself, but TELL me when you leave.
And she only does it when it's the two of us. I don't know if she does it to other co-workers.
flan
What is she doing? Is she goofing off or doing something productive?
Don't know, don't care.
The odd thing is, she is a conscientious worker, most of the time.
She's the one that used to be 20 hours a week & is now full time. Sometimes she goes to the Teen Area to look for books, which is fine. That usually takes 20 - 30 minutes.

Well, I think it matters. If she's actually working on something somewhere in the library because it's not that busy where you are, I think that's relevant. And she's probably not telling you b/c she feels she doesn't answer to you.
You might want to find out what she is doing before you go to the boss, because if she IS doing work, and you complain, you are going to sound like sour grapes b/c this woman got full time and you didn't.
Just my two cents - take it or leave it.

Flan, I would be upset also. Of course, there are only two of us that work at our library, but even if there are more, if everyone goes off and does their own thing and doesn't tell anyone, then there may be no one to cover the floor or the desk. We always tell each other where we're going if it's going to be more than just a couple of minutes. I even tell her if I'm going to the bathroom especially if she's in the office so she will pay attention to the desk while I'm gone.
I've had a certain coworker disappear for a long amount of time and come back saying how she was talking to the boss this whole time. And the boss had called a few times looking for her, lol.

I'm getting frustrated with Walmart. I have been ordering stuff online so it will be delivered to my house so I don't have to go to the store to shop. I've been doing this for about the last year and it's been fine until about June. I placed an order, and it just sat there for about a week in the "processing" mode, I emailed them because I couldn't cancel the order. They cancelled it and reordered my stuff in 3 separate orders. I got 2 of them, the other got stuck in "processing" as well, so I had to cancel that one and reorder again. I finally got my full order a month late. Then I put an order in in late July, same thing happened. August and was fine. I placed an order last Sunday night, about 3 days later 1 item out of about 10 was shipped, on Sept 8th. It won't get to me until the 17th because it's being delivered through "Smartpost" through FedEx. They deliver it to the post office. It's fabric softener. Another part of the order was shipped a few days later and arrived today. I'm still waiting on about 6 other things.
why couldn't they have waited to ship the softener with the stuff I got today, thus not having it shipped through "Smartpost"? The first thing shipped will probably end up being the last thing to arrive. It also really irritates me that they are delivering it to the post office and not my house. That is the whole point of placing these orders, so I don't have to haul the crap myself. This fabric softener is 100 ozs so I'll have to have someone come with me to get it and try to get there when the window is open, which means I'll probably have to leave work to get it. Ticks me off.
It wouldn't be such a big deal, except that I have to have what I order every month. I order medical stuff I use every day and I have to have it. When they screwed up in June, I did have to go to the store to get enough supplies to last until I finally got the rest of the order.

The way "Smartpost" works is, FedEx takes the package and overnights it (usually) to your local post office.
The post office then delivers it to your house the day after they receive it.
It's still home delivery, and it should only take two days.
You should find it near your mailbox or on your front porch on Monday or Tuesday. Do NOT go to the post office, it won't be there.
Also, you should have a "Smartpost" tracking number, try tracking the package.

I ordered it and it was delivered to FedEx on the 8th. It is still in transit, and won't be delivered until the 17th. I wouldn't have so much of an issue with smartpost if we actually got our mail delivered to our house but we don't. We live in a small town that has a post office with only 6 hours of open window time. I take that back, half the town gets their mail delivered, and the other half doesn't. Why I don't know. Something about rural routes, but a large portion is not rural route. Anyway, I'm 2 blocks away from one of the streets they deliver to. My street there is technically only 3 houses on, so they won't even consider home delivery on my street at this point.
I'm hoping with the cutbacks that they just close the post office and do decide to deliver to the entire town. It will be either that, or the window will only be open for 4 hours and that is pretty pointless when most of the population of the town works out of town or works in town, but works during the same hours that the post office is open, so they can't get there anyway. We have to sell stamps at the library because we are open into the early evening so people come to us to get stamps.
I just got a response from my email to them explaining the issues, and they are forwarding it to management and thanking me for giving feedback on shipping so they may improve it. I think I'll try Amazon for a while.

Oops, now I understand your dilemma. Could you have your mail delivered to the Library? Would that help?

I do have things like JC Penney ship to the library ( we do get mail delivered directly to us on that street), but walmart has never done this before. It has always been delivered to the house by regular FedEx. I don't know why out of 15 things ordered, they sent that one thing that way. Seems like it would cost them more to do 4 different shipments.
I have all kinds of issues with getting things delivered. and I will not use FedEx of I have any say in it.
I get my mail at a post office box. But, when I order something online and they say "cannot ship to PO Box" I used to put in our house number. Until this SmartPost & SurePost came along. The site I ordered from would require a street address, but then it would get to the post office, and as far as the post office is concerned, my house doesn't exist. Most of the time, the guy that sorts the mail would catch it and save it for me. But there were times when the package got returned. Darryl, the nice guy at the post office gave me a helpful tip: I use the street address of the post office and add #box number and it comes to the post office and they know which box it goes to. Makes my life so much easier. Plus, there is always someone there to sign for it
UPS has a helpful tool on their website. I signed up and I get an alert if I have something being delivered to my house by Sure Post. Then I have the option to upgrade it to UPS ground and still get my package ontime.
FedEx on the other hand was totally unhelpful when they used SmartPost to send something to my house. I called customer service when I saw on the tracking it was going Smart Post. They said since it was a USPS label there was nothing they could do. Period. I was so mad, after three customer service people there were so unhelpful. They said there was no way to change the delivery. It just was impossible. I said, well, why can UPS do it?
DG, I wonder if we live in the same town! LOL! My post office is horrible too. They will send things back if they don't have our box number on it, or they will write our box number on the envelope and write "NOTIFY BUSINESS OF BOX NUMBER" or something snarky like that. I hate our post office with a passion, to the point that I don't go to get my mail very often. Just irks me to no end they won't deliver to the house, especially since half the town gets it anyway. I also can't stand the postmaster, although she will be gone for 3 months, so maybe things will improve.
I have never heard of SmartPost. Doesn't sound like something that was developed with the customer in mind. It's just a way for the original company to save money by dropping all the packages at the post office and not have to deliver them to each house!
I have only had great experiences with a Amazon Prime. It always manages to get to me on time, and in the correct location.

The ridiculous thing is I live like only 3 blocks from the post office, so how much are they saving really? I've read a LOT of complaints online about Smartpost. Not a good system.
Our mail carrier is the worst. If we have a packag,e he pulls into the yard (we are on a motor route) and honks. If no one comes out he gets out of the truck and flings the package over the porch railing.

Oh, the post office here is great. It's just when one of the newer people is sorting the mail, they don't always catch it. In the year I've been back home, I've only had 1 package returned, but it was a Christmas present for my dad - which he then didn't get until almost February.
really, if it wasn't for the address/PO box thing, I don't have a problem with the SmartPost. Now, I just have everything go to the post office address, and I don't have any issues. Unless it's going to be a really big box, like when I ordered my exercise bike. It helps we have a big box, so when I order books (my most common purchase since the closest bookstore is over an hour away) they just go in the box, no need to go to the window.
I hate when people don't dress to travel. I am sitting in the airport people watching and most people are dressed in some sort of workout gear - yoga pants and tank tops, basketball shorts and tees, sweat pants etc. I don't think you need to wear heels or a suit, but is it too difficult to put on jeans or khakis and a polo? I am wearing a sundress with flats and I have a sweater for later, as well as a nice scarf on. Comfy and presentable. We aren't required to do any physical labor, we aren't pushing the plane...we are responsible for sitting down. That is it!
Guess who gets upgraded if there are available upgrades? The people who look like they belong there, not the schlubs in yoga pants and sweats.

Some people fly in pants that won't fall down when they're forced to take off their belts to go through Security.
