I'm so happy it's Saturday. Been up for hours. Already had my coffee, cleaned my bathroom and bedroom. Did some laundry, had a shower, now I'm getting ready for Zumba. Then going into town for lunch at a sushi buffet.
Hope everyone is doing well and having a good weekend so far. Sitting at the airport waiting to catch a flight to attend the funeral of the father of a very good friend. He was a good man whom I genuinely liked. I am just flying there for the visitation, service and refreshments, then return back home. He will be interred at a local Veterans cemetery. He was 92 with metastatic prostate cancer. He unfortunately succumbed to pneumonia last week. He will truly be missed.
I went to Olive Garden with my cousin, her birthday was yesterday. It's never ending pasta bowl time! The good part about living almost an hour away, you can stuff yourself with pasta then have time to be able to eat your cheesecake when you get home :)
Thank you for all the expressions of sympathy and safe travels. The Buddhist ceremony was beautiful, and they followed it by a 7-day service, since many who came will not be able to return in 7-days. The next service will be in 49 days. That will mostly be for just the family. I think I shed more tears than the family did. I did get to see my god-niece and god-nephew. They flew in from the West Coast. Due to time constraints, I took a taxi from the airport to the place of service. A friend of my friend gave me a ride back to the airport after refreshments. I did not attend the burial, but he got a full military burial (he was in the Army in WWII).
It is unfortunate that I only get to see a lot of people I know at funerals/memorials. Many people also flew in. His family seemed to be holding up well. I was thankful for that. I will call from time to time to check in and ask if there is anything I can assist with.
The flights to and from were uneventful. Both ways, I had an empty seat next to me. I have to say, I was really tired today!
