Is he walking or trying to walk?

He's kind of standing. Mostly crawling.

If he's not walking yet I'd just get him some baby tennis shoes. You don't need to worry about how expensive they are. Once he starts walking I've always heard the high top shoes are really great for support. So maybe some baby high tops?

I've heard Robeez are good. They are supposed to wear shoes that are really flexible so their feet can move. Or so I've heard.

Basically, if you have a new stander to a couple of steps, you need the soft soled shoes with rubber soles for slipping. Its best for the baby's feet (so says the UK's version of WebMD).

But once they have more than a couple steps under their belt, you want something like a sneaker, firmer sole but not too firm (So says USA's versions of WebMD).

Once he gets to really walking, I'd go to Stride Rite for his first shoes. Especially if he has fat little feet.

We always went with Stride Rite. They were recommended by my podiatrist when I was a baby, as I had problems with my feet which were corrected (pidgeon-toed).

Find a Stride Rite store. They will fit him with the right ones for him and they have the best shoes for babies. From newborn to school age.

You will love Stride Rite. My kids grew up in them.

Those are cute.

Do they support his ankles?

At 8 months my kids were walking. It wont be long till he is.

Gosh, I almost hate to admit this, I didn't put any shoes on my kids until after they were walking for at least 2 to 3 months. Thick socks with the grip strips were the only things I used.
Neither have fallen arches or ankle problems or any other foot problem.
IMHO, they really do not need support at that age. Let the foot develop naturally while learning to walk. They are fine until they are outside walking, then they should have shoes on their little feet for protection. But at home in the house, no. JMHO.
I know, salesman hate me.

I think this is what's recommended Czech.

They are just flimsy little things. It's just to get him ok with things on his feet. Totally flexible leather.

Mine were walking young and I didn't want them to have problems later. I listened to my mom and both grandmothers. They had tons of baby experience so I figured they knew what they were talking about.

I am a shoe freak too. So if I found cute shoes, I bought them. And baby shoes are the cutest.

I listened to my mom and grandmothers too. None of them had shoes for their kids until after they were walking.
I have my first shoes yet. Gosh, they are huge and definitely for a toddler.
And, the pediatrician said the same thing anyway.
DD never bought shoes for her kids until after they were walking either.
They do make some very pretty baby shoes for girls. You just can't keep them on them. LOL.

I think Stride Rite and Robeez are good for little feet. They kind of mimic being barefoot.

Mine all had shoes when they were newborns. But they were just cute and for decoration. I was like Czech. I let them go barefoot at home.

Very cute. I put Bunny in stride rite once he had been walking for a few months, after he was walking almost all the time and the weather was getting cooler. I just let him go in socks and barefoot until then.
