I know I want to get my parents something to make their travels more fun.
I know I want to get them a map to mark where they have been but I want something they can take with them.
Ideas?
And their car has the mapping and blue tooth and all the bells and whistles.

It's upcycled, so you can feel good about that, plus it's cross body making it more secure, it's cute and she could keep her stuff in it while exploring.
They are road trippers. They just did a two week tour in the mid west. Went to Branson, visit family in Kansas and down to the Alamo and came home through New Orleans.
They are leaving the first week in January going to California.

DH and I are travel nerds. We have a huge U.S. wall map of the interstates and major roads. When we return from a trip, we mark the route we used and any other roads we traveled during the trip.

We had a little store in town called, The Map Store. I had the thing framed when I bought it and then had the oops moment of how do I get this thing home. It barely fit in my van.

That sounds like something I would do.
I don't know if there is a store around here that has that.
I may have to find one online.

Never had it. Don't know what that is. Probably wouldn't know what to do with it if I did.

If you get it direct from AAA, the Trip Tik is a custom created map with your route highlighted. The map indicates road construction, toll roads, and other travel info. I never go on a long trip without one.
How about something as simple as some scrapbooks? Someplace to keep post cards from where they've gone, brochures/pamphlets from places they've stayed or visited, receipts or tickets from places they've eaten or shows they've seen?
You could include those little stickers with words/letters... colored markers... pretty scrapbooking paper... glue sticks... mini paper cutters.
