I have that problem too. The last time I did it I had them loaded in my car so long that I had to unload them because I needed the space. But I did reload them and drop them off after that.

Moving our showroom samples to the new shop...I already have a box of extras, overruns, mispacks, etc for the local resale shop.

Our local thrift stores will send someone to pick up donations!

Do you have Purple Heart in your areas? Here we just put the stuff on the porch on designated days & they pick it up. I have purged my closet & dressers thanks to them.

I'm in. My ideas for items would be cassette tapes. Or e-mails. Or raggedy hole-y underwear & socks. Or expired paint.

Old paperwork - paid bill stubs, bank statements, paystubs, tax returns (would love to know how many years you need to keep this stuff? I have 15-20 years' worth because I'm afraid to throw them out! UGH!)

They are a Veterans group that takes donations. I'm not sure how they work since I've never seen any stores like Salvation Army. They just call every few months & say they will be in the area on X day & you put your stuff on the porch. If you have large items like furniture you need to let them know so they are prepared.

I think the IRS will only go back 7 years. That is my understanding.

They can go back as far as your last good tax return. So in theory, longer than 7. I do want to have a shredding mobile truck come and get lots of records.

Ok. Whew. Don't put me down for selling. I go big or go home when it comes to that. I put it ALL out in the yard and sell every last thing we own, or else I take a garbage bag to goodwill. No in between.
