OK. I was at the dentist office today and was sitting in the waiting area. The seat I was sitting in was next to a lamp and faced a wall. I could hear everything going on at the reception desk but I couldn't see over the lamp. A gentleman was standing and chatting with the receptionist (he came in after me). He was chatting about his music and playing with this 70's or 80's band or that one. He did a ton of name dropping so apparently he's played with many bands. He did walk past me to use the restroom so I did get a glimpse without being obvious. He looked 60ish and had long gray hair that was pulled back in a braid and had a slender build. Normal height. no faicial hair.  He was waiting on a teenage boy who looked to be maybe 15 or 16.  He was a big kid.

It's like playing a game. I couldn't ask the receptionist because that would be a hippa violation so I have to be super sleuth and figure it out.
I have a friend who spots people so easily. She was at our little crappy theater in out little crappy town and finds Stephen Spielberg. She puts their pic up on Facebook and everyone is commenting "how on earth did you even pic him out of a crowd?". Then a few weeks ago in Georgia she is in the Sprint store and finds Wolverine! He just looked like some dude getting a cell. She's got the eye.

It was a riot. Umm, Trudy? Faye is looking for you!

Then you'd hear me, 'Faye just send me your driver. I'll help him!'

oh, I was at a fund raiser in Boston. My friends tire was flat. There I am all dressed up, in heals standing on the jack. Well, two guys come over and ask why I wasn't at the Grateful Dead concert that night. I said I wish! Was at a fund raiser. I look up and there is Phil Lesh! Hands me a funky Dead CD and changes the flat!

I have no proof but I know I met Kenny Chesney way back when. He went to school not far from me. I think it was at a football game.

Of course that was a really long time ago.

This guy could be anyone though. Lots of people played with 70s and 80s bands.

The receptionist really seemed to be into him. I'm thinking someone who hasn't had success in years. Not any of those HM. No accent of any kind. Or rasp.

My only brush with fame was knowing Johnny Depp when he was a young teen. He lived in my hometown and dated my sister briefly. She dumped him because she thought he was a dork.

Yeah but back then he was just John Depp. The kid with long hair riding a schwinn. Just like all the other 14 year old boys.

I do, however, occasionally fantasize about running into Nathan Fillion in an airport...

Radar O"Reilly once bought perfume from me as a gift for his SIL. When I was late teens/early 20's I worked in the cosmetics department of retail store, much like Macy's.

I know more celebrities than I care to. G knows EVERYBODY.

Most likely, this was a guy that played guitar in a drug fueled 80s band or two, or three or four. The famous ones don't go around dropping names.

DH meets people all the time. He had Mark Hamill call me once from his booth at Comic-con. That was pretty cool.

Oh and I met a hot rock guitarist once and he likes me!

Once met Mariette Harltley when I went to eat at my fav lobster-in-the-rough restaurant in Noak CT, she was there with her 2 daughters. She was just a regular person.

I've met and dealt with a lot of high profile politicians; Kennedy, Kerry, Brown, Ayotte, 5* generals, etc, due to nature of my job.

I like the hot rock guitarist the best.

I don't know anyone. Never met anyone that was a star at the time I met them. If I knew them before they were famous then I don't really know who they are.

Had a couple guys I went to school with do a few commercials. My cousin has been extras in a few movies. But that is as close as I have come to the famous.

I met a lot when I worked in Sierra Madre, CA (go figure) and L.A. Both while movies were being shot. I met a few in law school, too. Again, movies or TV shows being filmed.

Ohfour is right. Most celebs don't name drop. Not the big ones anyway.

The nicest ones I met were Sonny Bono, Hal Holbrook and Merlin Olsen. Rudest were Jennifer Beals and Lisa Hartman Black. Most arrogant was O.J. Simpson. Maybe because at the time I knew he was beating his wife.

How could I forget...Bonnie Franklin.  She was a sweetheart.  I cried when she died.  She was a neighbor at the family beach house in Solimar.   Sweet lady.  Always see her walking along the beach in the mornings.

My 4th cousin is Annette Funichello. Never met her. She was too good to ever attend our family reunions back in the 70's.
