It's everywhere now. I know I cant help but sing along.
So what are you diggin this year? Something new you like? An new spin on an oldie or maybe just really feelin the classics?
I am really liking this right now.
Breath of Heaven is also a favorite.
Of course I like pretty much all of the Christmas songs.

I seem to have a "new favorite" every year. But I love them all.
Even that silly one with Cheech and chong.

My favorite is O Holy Night if it is done well. It takes a well controlled voice or good harmony. It is strange that it is my favorite, being one of the more religious ones, but it is very moving.
Is it normal to get emotional because of Christmas music? I'm starting to think I have a problem.
My husband thinks it's been since Sandy Hook. I know that it's been longer than that... I've been super emotional since my little girl was born which is over 8 years ago.
I get teary over foundation for Life commercials, Wounded warrior commercials, Those terrible commercials where they have abused animals in sickly health and certain Christmas songs. Little Drummer Boy, Silent Night, Oh Come all Ye faithful, What Child is this, Christmas Cannon..
I need help.
This one makes me orgasmic though. I am full of emotion but it's a happy high. Just this version though! It's so incredibly gorgeous that it just grabs me. It's the best composition I've ever heard of an existing song.
I play the viola and hope to one day join an orchestra after my kids are filling their own schedules without me being constant. How will I perform if half the songs make me cry? Maybe nobody will notice..

But I have to admit that certain songs make me miss my grandparents that I have lost over the years. They bring back memories. Bittersweet.
And then others make me realize that my kids are no longer babies. That time of my life has gone by.
I think we get more emotional as we get older because we value what we have and had more.

Me too. At all those things. Then I feel weird crying at the ASPCA commercial. Especially when I see SB's pets on there!

"Have yourself a Merry little Christmas" makes me tear up. Not only because my kids are all grown up but, also missing my mom, dad,in laws and my sister who has all passed away. Also I'll be home for Christmas" too.
O Holy Night is my absolute favorite - IF it's a good version. This song is one of the ones that I hate singer taking artistic license and bastardizing the song.
Christmas Shoes, I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas, and Snoopy and the Red Baron are my other favorites.
O Holy Night and Christmas Shoes make me cry every time. So does Silent Night, especially during Christmas Eve candlelight service.
I know this isn't "strictly" a Christmas song... but I always loved singing it during our Christmas Concerts when I was in the school Choir.
(and yes, the tenor part was high as HELL!)
Great song! Many fond memories of singing it in choir myself.
In my college choir, the teacher decided I could sing soprano for that song. I did but those notes were WAY out of my comfortable range. My throat hurts just thinking about those notes.
C has a big octave range. She can hit those extreme high notes without batting an eye. She can also sound like a guy with out problem.
She sang the high parts more often than not in chorus.
I feel for those who have to hit those notes. Makes my head hurt thinking about trying.

Friday I was going to get the boys and all they were playing on the radio was the sad Christmas songs. Songs about orphans and daddy's over seas and being lonely. I swear it was the most depressing Christmas music ever.
I had to change it before I started gnawing my wrists.

I used to be able to hit those high notes in The Messiah when I was a soprano in high school.
Last time I went to a Messiah Sing, the alto part was even too high for me. LOL! I think I'm a tenor now.

I love Josh Groban's O Holy Night. That is a voice.
And I love the Hippopotamus for Christmas song. I had to look up Gayla Peevey the first time I heard that song. What a strange voice she has.
She was only 10 when she recorded it.

The only way I can sing soprano is if the notes stay high. I can't go from high notes to low notes without my voice cracking. I have a deep voice for a woman and am far more comfortable with alto.
"Have yourself a Merry little Christmas" makes me tear up. Not only because my kids are all grown up but, also missing my mom, dad,in laws and my sister who has all passed away. Also I'll be home for Christmas" too.
That one gets me so hard too!
All because of this commercial that aired a few years ago with a soldier standing at a pay phone trying to reach his family.
I really need to stop watching tv. I have about 100 images in my head that make my heart hurt all because of things I've seen on TV. I could just be blissful and unaware if I hadn't seen that stuff :(

Empy - I have to, at the very least, mute the TV when the ASPCA commercials come on. If able, I'll pause the tv and then skip it. Or even turn the channel. I just can't handle it.
I downloaded three Straight No Chaser Christmas albums on Friday. Their 12 Days of Christmas is my favorite right now.
I really like Garth Brooks' Baby Jesus is Born too
