Maybe this has been covered somewhere and I don't know but do we have some guidelines about membership and not posting? I'm not talking about lurkers. I'm talking about people who join and never post? I've noticed we have some members that never post. I wonder if that's just so the Breakroom is visible? I try to keep things I don't want the "public" to see, like pictures or such, in the Breakroom but that doesn't keep someone who has joined just to lurk from seeing things. Has this been addressed? I'm just curious.

= New members have 60 days to try out the board and decide if they are going to post. If they have made no meaningful contribution during that time, they will be deleted. This is totally a discretionally matter and "meaningful" will be solely in my discretion. This rule is to prevent the joining simply to troll or to glean information from the members only section, or to spam members.
However, due to the newness of this board, I've been hesitant to remove members this quickly. After the new year, I will take another look at it.

Thank you. I appreciate it. I was just wondering. I was truly curious as there are some I see online all the time and they have never posted. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing new names. I guess I'm just leery when I see names that are on every day and never post. Thank you for addressing my question!

Yes, thank you for the question (and response, LL).
Flan, I'm not bothered by the individuals who lurk from the other boards. If they talk about us on the other boards that says more about them then about us. Cheap jollies for them I guess.
I am easily humorized by them on some of the other boards.
(humorized has been my famous family made up word for years)
(I'm waiting for the word to start trending any day now)
Good question NJN and thanks for clarifying LL.

But I want to spork them...or punch them in their "mean" faces...

Mentally punch the heck out of them!
I don't waste any energy worrying about what they think. Not worth my time.

Thank you for posing the question, NJN. It is a valid concern.
Thank you. It's been a question that's been on my mind but I didn't want to sound dumb asking it. I appreciate LL answering it!

Hate is a strong term for someone not personally known.
I don't care what is taken to another board really. As long as what is said in the member's only section stays there.
But we have had instances of that not being the case right here.
So I think being very careful what is posted is very good advice.

So, people are upset that something posted in a public place gets discussed elsewhere? Even though the board discusses all sorts of things posted on public sites?

One could interpret this to mean that if you don't like a poster, whether or not they abide by the rules, then you could judge their posts "not meaningful" and just delete them.
Heck, I know you loathe me...and I should expect to be deleted sometime after new year...right?

Yeah. That is weird.

Yeah. That is weird.
You either understand, or you don't.

It sort of sounds like you'd prefer a private invite only board, cause that's the only way I could see avoiding what annoys you.

If I wanted that, I would have made my own board years ago.

I don't loathe you. However, if I was going to delete people because I don't like them, I could have saved myself the trouble and never approved them in the first place. "Meaningful contribution" means actual posting, not content - unless it's always just obvious trolling.

I personally am unconcerned about lurkers. But, rules are rules.
The rule was actually made during a certain fiasco a while back on GT. The entire point of a members only section is to give members a place they feel a little more safe and private posting. Lurkers can always see the main board - if they are not going to post - there is really no reason to be a member.

JPT, I don't think you have anything to worry about. You are an active poster. Doesn't matter if anyone likes us or not, just that we post, even if we tick someone off. That would be meaningful content.

Well, I didn't mean to start a fight. I was just truly curious. Usually late at night when I'm posting I look at the little green man to see who else is on. That's when I notice it a lot.

Yes you did. You wanted some drama for the day. Go on. Admit it.
LOL....
Maybe we need a snow ball fight. Or water balloon.

Okay fine. I did it. We should all have virtual snow balls to throw at each other!

I don't want to put names out here but me too. I see them and wonder... Maybe it's just me!
Uh SB, can you catch up already? Look at the little green man at the bottom of your page. It tells you who's online.

On my smart phone, there are no little green men.
My computer has them, but I can close that bar down, or up, whenever I want.

I can post from my phone but I have never even pulled up the page. I only post from home. One of these days I'm going to be all fancy, high class, and high tech like some of you and post from my phone. That's if I remember to bring it with me.
