I was going to put a you tube video of one but didn't want to gross every one out. I'll have to turn computer on to put a clinical definition instead of mine which might be too icky.
A thoracotomy is an incision into the pleural space of the chest.[1] It is performed by surgeons (or emergency physicians undercertain circumstances) to gain access to the thoracic organs, most commonly the heart, the lungs, or the esophagus, or for access to the thoracic aorta or the anterior spine (the latter may be necessary to access tumors in the spine).
It's almost 4:30 here and I'm wide awake. It's going to be a long day. Doctor appointment this morning then lunch with a friend. Stay warm my friends! It's going to be nice here today.

I kind of knew the new word. Not an exact definition but I have heard it and seen it in magazines and on TV and in those little videos they make you watch before having anything heart related done.
Hope everyone has a great day.

Shouldn't we have to give a definition for the new word of the day? Great title SB.
That's a great suggestion TD!
C'mon now, you lazy bones people! Look it up! That's the fun of it.
It's like my mother the English teacher when we were kids. She would never tell us the meaning of a word. She'd make us go look it up in the dictionary. Good practice.
Thoracotomy: Incision into the pleural space of the chest
Pleural space: the space between the pleural membranes that surround the chest cavity.
What fun!
So who's getting their boobs sliced into today? LOL!

This is not a very helpful definition - now we need pleural and membranes.
It's like saying what is a yellow daisy - a daisy that is yellow. LOL.

Mom did the same thing to me and I do the same thing to my kids.
With spelling to.
The only time we got help was if the word had a secret letter in it. Like Knife. She would give us the first letter and nothing more.
I do the same thing.

We have something here called Phoestivus For the Rest of Us. Hilarious. They have a Festivus pole, airing of grievances and feats of strength at an outdoor market. I'm cracking up over this and think whoever thought of this is brilliant. Evidently this happens each Wednesday until Christmas.

Morning all! A few of us are having lunch today with my former boss (he retired a couple years ago) and his wife at a quaint French restaurant out in the country.
Have fun pole dancing at Phoestivus, VOR.
I make the boys spell, too, and read. Sound it out. Except the difficult words that break the rules.

SB, my first thought upon seeing the title was, who is getting their chest tapped today?!! After dealing with blood all day yesterday, I was not happy to see that word posted. Yeah, I already knew what the word meant.
DD is on the good meds for a few days. I mean the really good meds.
I am exhausted. My body hurts all over. I was so overly tired last night that I couldn't get to sleep. So, three shots of buttershots solved that problem. Hehehe
And DD will need tender loving care for several days. It's going to be a long week.
On a good note, we spent all day Tuesday cuddling sweet little grandson.
Since I am housebound for several days, I hope to get all the Christmas cards done and do some cookie making.
I hope you are all having a great day! It's Thursday!!! Almost the weekend!
Today is DH's birthday. I hope to take him out for supper. Oldest DD said she would take care of her sister for me. Gotta love family! Bless her!

2 words about my day so far: puppy diarrhea 😡💩
I am sorry. That is not fun.
I have washed the bath mats, the kitchen rug, and several spots on my favorite throw rug. Not to mention I feel like I smell like poop now. The smell just lingers around you. Febreeze to the rescue!
The he only good part was getting to use the poop emoji. Lol
