The flu?

We've all heard that this year's flu shot may not be effective. Do you have a lot of flu cases in your area? Our ER has been on patient overload the past few weeks.  One of the local charter schools has over 100 students and teachers out with the flu. It is a small school, less than 300 total students.  They are talking about closing early for the holiday break to keep more from getting sick and they will be able to sanitize the whole building. One of my coworkers has a daughter that attends this school and now she's out sick.

There doesn't seem to be as much of it this year yet. Thank God.

Last day of school is Friday. Hopefully Christmas break will help what we have.

I think every school should be sterilized at Christmas break.

Our teacher go through a whole lot of Lysol.

I think I'm going to go buy some Lysol for the school.

We had a school around here shut down last week for the stomach flu.

We've seen no cases at work. And our population is immuno-depleted. Waiting for it to hit.

Not a lot of flu here...even with the mutated strain, the shot will offer some mitigation of the course of the infection.

I haven't heard of too much flu here either. Personally, I haven't ever gotten a flu shot and the last time I got the flu was 1993.

A lot of flu, in North Texas.

And, my Aunt Stella, in Georgia, is in the hospital. With the flu. (She's 85, and doesn't have any kids. Her husband died a while ago.)

Stella, is my Mom's only sibling. And, the last living Aunt I have. All of my other Aunts and Uncles have died.

I sure hope she pulls through. Hold a good thought, please.

Thank you, so much!

Aunt Stella is it. No one else is still kicking, besides my Mom and her sister. My family is so small.cry

I guess that's why Christmas time, is so hard for me. Almost everyone is gone. I only have a tiny few, left.

I appreciate your prayers!

Okay, forget about this post.

I'm so happy that I have a great husband. And great children.

And my Mom, my Aunt, and my sisters.smile

Please don't be bummed out.

We will carry on. And, we'll make it as joyful as we can.smile

Prayers for dear Aunt Stella!

And for you, FWM... it's ok to post negative things sometimes - they're (unfortunately) a part of life.

Is she near Atlanta?  Does she need visitors?

She's in a little town called Swainsboro. Out in the middle of nowhere, LL.

I'm sure her church friends will visit.

It was sweet of you to ask!

And, she's doing a bit better. They took the IV out, and have her on a liquid diet.

So, she is improving!

Thanks again for the prayers! I think they are helping!smile

FWM - glad to hear that Aunt Stella is doing better. I will be sending healing thoughts her way for a continued recovery.

I don't remember the last time I had the flu. I got strep thought a lot until I had my tonsils out about 6 years ago. I have had sinus infections, bronchitis...but not the flu.

I have never had a flu shot. Ever.

I don't think I've ever had the real flu either. I never had the shot until this 2013 because it became required for those working in health care buildings. It was that, or a mask for 10 hrs a day. No thank you!

In the past 15 years, I've had the flu twice.  The first time was when I was working in the doctor's office.  That was miserable.  The last time was in 2009, I got H1N1.

I remember wishing my parents' house had more than two bathrooms, since there were five of us living there. cry

Coworker officially has the flu. I hope she stays out the rest of the week. We can get by without her. She's on vacation next week. We have already sprayed everything down with alcohol. Twice.

So CW who came up with a doctor's note Tuesday saying she had a communicable illness calls yesterday (Wed) and asks if she can come back to work today. Boss is on vacay so team leader told her nope, you are supposed to be sick and contagious, Dr. note says you may return Friday, see ya Friday. Turns out she may have been faking, she was mad because she wanted to come in late Monday and boss told her no so suddenly she was "sick". She doesn't have enough PDO hours to cover being out this week and being off all next week for vacation. I guess her little game blew up in her face.

Yep, we had two bathrooms growing up, first floor was for the parents only, upstairs for 5 kids.  I get your frown.

I have two people living here and three bathrooms!  Life is sweet!

We had 5 kids in one bathroom as well. My parents had their own. One of my sisters took 2 hours to get ready every day. She still does.

Yeah, my bros would have taken the bathroom door off while she was in there.
