Should I tip the ups man?

I wasn't home for a package today that I had to sign for so I called the ups store to pick it up there. She said he had to go back to my area for whatever reason so he'll go ahead and bring it by this evening.

Should I tip him for going out of his way? (Or her)

No tip, the truckers are paid well. If he had to go back out, he is probably getting OT. Tips are for peeps that are on a waitress minimum.

This.  I don't like to appear cheap, but have at it if you must, all you big tippers - I think this holiday tipping goes WAY too far.  Yes on tipping those people who offer excellent and faithful service all year and don't make more than I do, LOL.  But tipping the (for instance) salon owner who does your hair with an extra big tip at the end of the year?  Seriously?  Someone needs to tip ME. biggrin

I so agree. I also feel that if someone makes a living wage then I am not doing the holiday tipping thing. Maybe a nice card or some cookies or a small token like that, but not a big tip. I just don't believe I should have to go broke so I can give a holiday tip to everyone who ever gave me service.

Of course, I have never been the recipient of a holiday bonus ever. Or a holiday tip. Or a regular tip. So that may color my view. But regardless, I find it excessive.

I don't, but I don't tip the mailman either. I do leave gift cards for the milk man and the veggie man.

Does anyone tip their hairdresser? Mine charges $180 for cut and color, so I'm not inclined to leave more than my usual $20 tip.

I am in awe that you have a milk man and a veggie man. What are these and how do I get one?

Because you tip them all year, you have no obligation to tip them at Christmas, and a personal gift is more appropriate.

We have "local" farms that deliver. They are about an hour or two away but cover my area. I learned about them when the boys were babies and it was difficult for me to get out. I felt better knowing I would at least have milk for them.

Thanks, LL. Although I have no idea what kind of personal gift I might get her.

My hairdressers have bottles surrounding them. Good wine? Why not!
