Not a huge shock.  They weren't going to completely walk away from their investment.

If it does well in the limited release, it will probably get a wider one later as the bigger theatres that initially blackballed it will end up showing it.

Already posted that in another thread.

Surprised that it will be showing a couple miles from our house...

I still think it was part of a publicity stunt.

The only ones I know who want to see it, wanted to see it before.

But they usually have bad taste in movies anyway.

Yes, I cannot see that this would have a very large audience. Not a particularly new type of story and not a particularly stunning cast of characters.

Meh, Seth Rogan has his followers.  I haven't liked most of his movies, but some people do.

"This is the End" was a horrible piece of crap.

It will be interesting to see how many people actually go to the movie. I don't think it's playing in our theater.

Well, it's a pretty limited release to start.  I suppose it depends on how well it does as to whether or not it gets wider release, or they just go to DVD with it.

Consider yourself lucky you haven't seen that one.  Utterly stupid.   A lot of young Hollywood "talent" was in it, but it was a worthless piece of crap to watch.

As far as who Seth Rogan is--he was in the movie with Katherine Heigl where she gets pregnant.  I can't think of the name of it.  Someone else will know.

“The Interview” now available on Google Play and YouTube Movies

Posted: Wednesday, December 24, 2014
Last Wednesday Sony began contacting a number of companies, including Google, to ask if we’d be able to make their movie, "The Interview," available online. We'd had a similar thought and were eager to help—though given everything that’s happened, the security implications were very much at the front of our minds.

Of course it was tempting to hope that something else would happen to ensure this movie saw the light of day. But after discussing all the issues, Sony and Google agreed that we could not sit on the sidelines and allow a handful of people to determine the limits of free speech in another country (however silly the content might be).

So starting at 10 a.m. PST in the U.S., you can rent or buy "The Interview" on Google Play and YouTube Movies. It will also be available to Xbox Video customers and via www.seetheinterview.com.

Update 3:44p.m. PST: "The Interview" is now also available in Canada.

I posted about the controversy. Not the movie its self.

I didn't want to see the movie before and I don't care to see it now.

Like I said, I think it was publicity.

Here you go again.

There is a HUGE difference between "worthless piece of crap" and Oscar nominations...

IMDB gave it a 6.8/10.

But I'm sure you know better.

And there is a whole following out there that falls all over them selves over Star Wars.

I thought it was one of the stupidest movies I have ever seen.

People think that Dumb and Dumber was the best movie ever. I swear brain cells died while watching it.

And Magic Mike didn't appeal to me at all. Even the commercials were stupid.

It's called personal preference.

I will go see the interview. I enjoyed This is the End and thought it was funny, never saw star wars, Dumb and Dumber was horrible, I walked out of White men can't jump, I've also never paid attention to the academy awards so have never made a decision to see a movie based on that.

I like to look at the "Best of 2014" lists, to see what I've missed.

I miss Siskel & Ebert!

Me either.  I decide by watching the commercials. I haven't seen most of the "award winning" movies.

So far, crowds are flocking to the theatres where the Interview is being shown. It will almost undoubtedly get a wider release.

But then, Sony will "never" release it, we were told.

 No, you have an opinion.

Even I can tell the difference between my personal preference and the fact that certain movies are considered classic for a reason.

I don't like Forrest Gump, but I acknowledge its place in American cinema.
