Dustin Diamond, actor who played “Screech” on “Saved by the Bell,” arrested
OZAUKEE COUNTY, Wisc. (WITI) – Police arrested Dustin Diamond, better known as “Screech” in the 1980s sitcom, “Saved by the Bell,” on Friday in Port Washington, Wisconsin.
Diamond, 37, is charged with one felony count of recklessly endangering safety and two misdemeanors — carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a switchblade, according to jail records.
According to WITI, Diamond was arrested after an altercation at a bar in Port Washington.
He allegedly stabbed another male patron and left the bar in a white SUV.
Officers caught up to the vehicle and took Diamond into custody.
Authorities say the knife was recovered in Diamond’s SUV.
Court documents say the victim suffered a half-inch wound with “substantial bleeding” under the arm pit. That victim is recovering at home.
In a court appearance Friday afternoon, Diamond claimed self-defense.
According to WITI, his bail was set at $10,000.
Diamond appeared on “Saved by the Bell” as awkward nerd Samuel “Screech” Powers from 1989 to 1993 and later appeared in various spin-offs of the hit show.
In September, Lifetime aired a movie about life on the set loosely based on a book written by Diamond.
The book garnered negative criticism for Diamond from castmates, who said it was inaccurate.
In 2013, Diamond distanced himself from the book, telling OWN that the book had been written by a ghostwriter and was a “disappointment” to him.

And he was probably my favorite character on SBTB. He made it fun to watch.
Seems there is always one in every cast that has to be the diva and complain about everything.

FWM, it was a Saturday teen thing in the late 80's. Think Happy Days but the plot was always a lot cheesier and everyone was a an exaggerated caricature of the teen "types" in the 80's.
Screech was the lovable nerd.

It was one of those shows for anyone with a brain was painful to watch.
Wow. Thanks. I enjoyed it when I caught it on.
Of course I still like cartoons.

Well. It was fun. Nothing heavy about it. It wasn't the raunch of the teen shows now, that is for sure.
It was kids having fun in high school. Doing the typical kid things.
