I talk to a lot of jerks. Does that make me a jerk?

I talk to a lot of Christians. Does that make me a Christian?

I talk to a lot of doctors. Does that make me a doctor?

I talk to a lot of women. Does that make me female?

I even actually listen to and have discussions with those people. That doesn't change who and what I am.

I am not sure but I think "guilt by association" got to be popular under the MacCarthy Anti Communist Hearings where it got so bad that one commentator remarked that if you even walked out the same door with a Communist it meant you were a Communist. But I am wandering off the subject.

I do not think talking to a racist makes you a racist, but if you are a public figure and asked to address a racism group you should probably consider all the ramifications. This is not just talking to a racist, but addressing a roomful of them.
