Teresa Giudice is expected to report to prison to start serving her 15-month sentence for federal fraud crimes on Monday, Jan. 5. But when she gets locked up, her youngest daughters won't know the real reason why Mommy is gone, a new report alleges.

According to Radar Online, the "Real Housewives of New Jersey" star and husband Joe Giudice -- who will serve his 41-month sentence on related crimes once Teresa gets out in 2016 -- told their two youngest daughters, Milania, 8, and Audriana, 4, that Teresa "is going away to work," said a source.

The reason for the lie? "Teresa and Joe feel that they are too young to fully comprehend what is going on," the source told Radar. A second insider added that Teresa specifically told her youngest girls that "she is going to jail to work on a book about jail."

The couple's two oldest girls, Gia, 13, and Gabriella, 10, however, "do know where Teresa is going," the first source told Radar. Gia seemingly commented on the situation facing her mother -- whom she recently called "my best friend" -- and their family on social media. "Can't sleep, [too] much stuff on my mind," the teen tweeted early on Jan. 3

They are young & don't need to know all the details right now. Of course they will find out but for now I don't think it is such a bad thing to bend the truth a little. She probably will write a book about her time in jail.

 Her kids are probably used to hearing the kids at school say all sorts of things about her mother - she is a reality TV personality so it's nothing new. The kids probably tune it out by now. 

 

She can tell her kids whatever she wants. I don't know the kids, so I can't speculate on what's best for them.

I doubt the 4 yo understands any of it. The 8 yo might hear something at school, then again the other parents may not talk about it in front of their 8 yo. That isn't exactly the type of thing you share with 8 yo chikdren is it?

My SIL's first husband went to federal prison for money laundering. Found it was best to be truthful with the kids, because if they found out "through gossip" it would be much worse on the kids. Letting them know in advance gives them a chance to prepare for the ugly comments (even at a young age)
The younger child was only 5, and he overheard the adults say awful things about his father. No matter what the parent did, the child still loves and misses their parent. Hopefully there will be kind people to help them through this.

The little boy in this tale is now a junior in college, his father served his sentence (and they did visit him) and they maintained a good relationship with him.

So, it's ok for the whole world to know but somehow it is OK to LIE to your family? Yes, she doesn't have to give all the details. But, how about a Teachable moment. Mommy made a mistake and did something wrong and now she has to go to jail and serve her time for society as punishment. Sheesh!

 I remember watching a Christmas episode. They live in these obscenely expensive mansions, of course. The girls were dressed in the fanciest of dresses. They could barely sit down, let alone just be a kid and play.
