Right now, I am reading Liar, Temptress, Soldier, Spy.  It's about 4 women who were spies or soldiers during the civil war.  Two from the North and 2 from the South. It's really good so far.

Next up for me is the biography of Sally Ride.  I can't wait to start it, but decided to read the other first because DH wants to read it too.

Anyone else reading anything good right now?

These were Christmas gifts. Did anyone else get any interesting books for Christmas they are looking forward to?

Dark Waters by Robin Blake, Set in 1791, England. Really a good read; mystery. Evidently this is a relatively new author and I will be looking for more of his books.

I've read all 3 of her books. I liked Gone Girl the least...but I DO want to see the movie.

I read Gone Girl a while back. I liked it.

I got The Goldfinch for Christmas. I really enjoyed it. All of the characters were very personable. I also got another book from the same author, Donna Tartt but haven't started it yet. I have two new Lee Childs books, plus a new Stephen King & two others to read first.

I bought this one, but haven't read it yet. I'm glad you liked it, that will make it easier for me to start it.

I thought it started a little slow.  There is a section where they are in an art museum & she sort of bored me there.  Kepp going, it does get good.

I recently listened to  "Doctor Sleep," and cried...Will Patton did a great job as the narrator!

I just started a new kid's book called, "The Glass Sentence," by S. E. Grove.

Here is the summary: In 1891, a world transformed by 1799's Great Disruption (when all of the continents were flung into different time periods) 13-year-old Sophia Timms and her friend Theo go in search of Sophia's uncle, Shadrack Elli, Boston's foremost cartologer, who has been kidnapped.

I read about half of Gone Girl in Barnes & Noble a few weeks back. Couldn't put it down. But I was too cheap to buy it.

Gotta go back and finish the book. So I can see the movie.

I just finished a book DD had to read for school "The number the Stars" A fictional story about Danish jews, not totally fictional. The Danish fishermen hid Jews in their fishholds and sailed them to Sweden. The true story is One night in October (I think) still trying to located it. I have the Billy Joel biography on tap and a few others.

You all make me feel like a slacker. I pretty much just read fluff 😀 I'm reading Duck the Halls by Donna Andrews. It's a holiday mystery my mom got me for Christmas.

I've got Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg (COO of Facebook) on tap. Co worker gave it to me. The former president of our company gave it out to all the woman here to read. She said it's pretty good.

I admire those that read the serious books and non-fiction. And I find most of that facinating. But reading is my escape. I have a pretty stressful job, so for me, reading is my decompress. I don't want to think, I just want to get lost in a book. Every Monday, I take my book to the Chinese buffet and read. If I don't get to go for a couple weeks, I get stressed and cranky.

I very much like my personal reading to be fun.  I read too much serious stuff during the workday.  Give me FLUFF and TRASH!

I agree.  I read very very little non-fiction.  A lot of non-fiction is just depressing to me...

 I like a memoir now & then.

I've listened to both of Rob Lowe's books (he reads them). Craig Ferguson's was excellent as well.

That is how I feel about fiction. Lol. All the murders and sex and duplicitous relationships...I don't need the drama.

I'm reading The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton. I picked it up because it was a booker prize winner, but i'm finding it a real battle to get through it. Next up is short stories from Neil Gaiman and Mercy among the Children from David Adams Richards.
