I guess I'm lucky because I manage to find bras with underwire that are not uncomfortable. I'm wearing one right now that I can barely feel. I've actually slept in it it's so comfortable.

I have worn an underwire since the 8th grade, so I don't really know the difference, comfort wise. I just know that if I try on a bra without an underwire, my boobs sag. No thanks!

I also sleep in a bra almost every night. It's more comfortable to me to have the girls corralled.

 Sometimes I go commando. Usually I wear it to bed though. It just feels better to have the boobies in the spot they are supposed to be in. If I dont, I practical roll over on them!

If I had smaller boobs I wouldn't wear a bra. I don't like underwire. But it sure makes my boobs look nice in a low cut top!
