I am not going with DH to pick up SS today.  We will see how this turns out.  I think we're both nervous.  I bought the stuff to make home made chili and I really want to do that but we have a bunch of leftovers that need eaten.  I'm hoping we get them eaten this weekend so I can cook some good stuff.  I baked a turkey the other night and we diced the whole thing up.  I am going to make turkey and rice soup, turkey and dumplings, and turkey noodle soup.  Also want to try turkey spaghetti.  I'm also going to comb my recipes and see if I can come up with a good tuna casserole recipe.  Yes, I'm in the cooking mood.  It's supposed to stay in the upper fifties here the next few days.  Cold for us.

I should be sleeping. Hurting and just generally uncomfortable though. Nights like this are can be really long.

Good news is, it stopped snowing and sleeting and whatever else it was doing. Just really cold now. I hope it stays above freezing.

Tuna casserole? Yuck! Probably my absolute least favorite thing in the world. LOL...

I am sure your hubs and SS will be just fine. It'll probably be really good for them. Car rides have a way of becoming great opportunities for conversations. Try not to worry.

We got a bunch of tuna on sale the other day. Since we're on a budget since DH is laid off our local store ran a big sale on canned goods. We went and stocked up. They also had ground chuck on sale. I prefer ground beef but that stuff is so high these days. When did that stuff get so high? We got it on sale for $2.99/lb. Usually it's $4.99 or higher. Outrageous.

I'd like to know why the hell I am still awake at 2 am. This is starting to be a regular occurrence. I am freakin' wide awake. This has been happening since I've been feeling so much better the last few weeks. I feel like my brain is "firing on all cylinders" so to speak. I guess before, the mass and my kidneys were making me extremely tired. Not tired anymore. But it's driving me nuts because then I will sleep until almost noon and I don't get anything done before work.

It might be caffeine but it has never affected my sleep before. I'd love to have these hours, but my job wouldn't love it.

You are going to have to MAKE yourself get up earlier and suffer tired through a few days.  You are changing your sleep habits into a night owl- you aren't tired because you are sleeping until noon.

Ground beef is high now. Crazy high.  I think all the over regulation has a lot to do with it.

And there are fewer cattle farms now and that drives the price up.

And when gas was high, everything went up. I promise it wont go back down.

As for tuna, I don't mind the occasional tuna salad with crackers. But I have to be starving. I just don't like it.

You ever use ground chicken? It is so easy to use in beef recipes. And it can be seasoned to what ever taste you like. I use it a lot.

If you can get chicken sausage, it's really good in spaghetti and soups and that kind of thing.

We eat it for breakfast a lot. I make gumbo with it.

I would love to find someone to split a cow with.

It doesn't matter how early I get up. I can get up early and be tired all day long then hit a second wind at about 8 pm and not be able to fall asleep. I can also go to bed at 11 pm and still sleep til almost noon. I have always been a night person. My favorite shift to work is 2nd shift.

I'm going to try not to drink caffeine in the afternoon and see if that helps.

When you were in the hospital, did they come in about 2 to do vitals and that kind of thing?

Have you tried melatonin? And the no caffeine after a certain time might help. Try no sugar too.

I wake up between 2 and 3 almost every night. I have found that if I play a monotonous game it helps keep my mind from fully waking up. I do 2048 or one of the match three games.

And sometimes I get up and do something. Might as well take advantage of the time.

Sorry this is happening to you.

I can stay up all night myself. I can easily get my days and nights turned around too. It's frustrating.

Morning everyone. I am so ready for the 3 day weekend. I got groceries last night & when I pulled a box of elbows out of the bag the bottom of the box came open & spewed elbows all over the kitchen. I was crawling around on the floor picking them up. Those little buggers went everywhere. I'm sure a few found a home under the refrigerator.

This was me for years.  It took me quite a while to train myself to a different sleep schedule.  I still prefer to stay up late, but since I get up at 6:00 every day, I can go to sleep, although I have to shut off my mind by watching TV most of the time.

There is a thing called circadian rhythm disorder. It's when your body is confused when to be awake and when to sleep. I honestly don't know what they do to treat it. I've just heard it mentioned when I've been researching my IH

Sunlight or "daylight" lamps until just before bedtime, then total darkness and either complete quiet or a white-noise generator during sleep hours. Exercise and food before 7:00 p.m., then quiet relaxation only, until bed.

I fought something like this but I believe it was depression-related.  I'm different than normal I suppose, because I switched my workout routine from the morning to early evening and it helped me to sleep better.

I keep my house basically dark. I have one light over the stove I keep on all the time and it is enough to light the house enough at night so I can see to get around and do things. I eat usually between 7pm - 8 pm because that's when I normally get home from work. I sit in front of the tv and play mindless games on the computer in the evenings. I tried coming home and cleaning and I just can't unwind after that. I do think it has something to do with caffeine and being in the hospital for so long. Now I'm feeling more awake and energetic to the point where I'm almost climbing the walls wanting to do something like exercise. I have to wait until my next dr appt to see when I can go back to the gym. Can't start walking outside until spring.

Good morning all!
We are ready to be inundated with company! The house is clean, despite my sprained thumb (which is killing me), the laundry is almost done. The weather is cooperating, it will get into the 40's today, woo hoo!!!
Our little family has plans for a night out, supper and then watching DGS#2 perform during halftime of the basketball games here tonight.
We get to enjoy new grandbaby for four days!!!
I am on a coffee high this morning!!!

So, Sheba came through surgery well yesterday. She was so groggy when she got home, though. She slept most of the evening and all night. Doc said everything should wear off by this evening and start giving her pain pills then.

For many people - they need to disconnect from electronic screens to be able to sleep.  I'm the opposite, b/c if I lay there without distraction, I will think about work and not sleep, so I have to turn my mind off by distracting it.  I can read, too.

Lunch for me is home made simple chicken salad, a couple hard boiled eggs and some toast.

I would like some Chinese but all our Chinese places have poor scores. Except Panda Express. But it is on the far other side of town and I don't really care for it.

Awww.... We had a Sheba. I loved that dog.

I hope your Sheba feels back to her old self soon. Bet she gets all the cuddles she wants and then some.

Flan, I think the cut off for the Tooth Fairy is when the last real tooth comes out. So I am thinking this one might be worth dinner at you favorite place or a pair of sparkly earrings.

Czech, it sounds like a lot of fun coming your way. I hope you enjoy every second of it. Give that little GB a squeeze for me please?

My vet has been having problems with their deliveries & they are once again out of Dez's cat food. I found it online but before they will ship it they have to call my vet to verify he needs it. Somehow I feel like I've been caught cheating! But I am almost out & can't keep waiting.

Lexxy, when my Vet runs out of Huey's food, they write me a prescription for it, and I can pick it up at Petsmart.

I don't know if Petsmart sells the veterinary diet.  Last time they ran out I bought a bag of what I think is Huey's brand, Royal Canin.  They are also out of that one this time.

I found his Hills on Amazon & they wanted $85 a bag plus charged shipping.  I usually pay $47 at the vet.  This place called Chewy charges $57 but free two day shipping so I figure $10 is no big deal.  If I don't get a shipping confirmation I'll check back in with the vet & see what my options are.  I was thinking abut checking other local vets.

Hey, y'all. I am so glad it is Friday. Not much rest for us this weekend, though. Tomorrow is the big moving day for Nana and Grandpa. They finally accepted that they have to give up the house and move to a community home. Nana just can't manage everything, she's not strong enough to really help Grandpa get in and out of his chair.
Plus she hates cooking. I think they have been living mostly off of take out since Grandpa came home from the hospital.

Wish us luck, please. It won't be easy getting everything they want from the house into a two bedroom apartment.

If they have anything valuable or really sentimental try to ensure it finds a good home now and doesn't go with them. Even in the very best homes, things have a way of getting "lost" one by one.

I hope they like the place they are in and enjoy the other people there. It could end up being a real blessing for them!

So jealous.  Love the Japanese Steakhouse.  Last time we went to ours they were a little skimpy on the veggies.

Plus she hates cooking. I think they have been living mostly off of take out since Grandpa came home from the hospital.

Wish us luck, please. It won't be easy getting everything they want from the house into a two bedroom apartment.

Sending prayers your way, Tang.  Have they (and their helpers) been prepping for this by packing, and also deciding what they can and cannot fit in their new apartment?

DH is on his way to pick up SS from school. Alone. I have encouraged him, given him pointers, and shared my input. The rest is up to him. I pray it goes well for DH and not so well for SS. SS is a master manipulator. I am hoping DH doesn't give in.

Last night we went to see his ex's oldest daughter that now has the baby. The baby is adorable btw. B is 22 now. She is not biologically related to DH but he helped raise her when he was married to ex. She is in the hospital having her gallbladder out. She told DH she taught SS how to lie about not doing his homework. She said she also taught him to cry right away when he got in trouble because then DH and his ex backed right off. So maybe that helped clear things up for him. We will see.

No school today, so four day weekend. DD stayed the night with a friend last night and got up super early, so she is taking a nap now.

Dh and I are thinking of going to a movie tonight. I need to figure out what's playing.

Good luck with your grandparents Tang!

Flan, DD lost a tooth at her friends house last night, but she didn't tell anyone and just put it under her pillow. She was pretty put out that the tooth fairy didn't come. If you want the tooth fairy to come, you have to let someone know you expect her to show up.. :)

Woo hoo! I am having an unexpected "Get a Life Day"! Just did one job, couldn't get into the next job.... so decided to call it a day! I called my last customer of the day, and he is happy that we will be doing him this Monday instead!!!
The sun is shining, the driveway is already shovelled, and now I just might make some bread!!!!
