A few days ago I got a call from AT&T's customer satisfaction department. The guy offered a $20 credit off next month's bill if I answered a three question survey. I told him I was busy and hung up. I guess Husband wasn't too busy to pass up $20, so he answered the guy's questions when he called- and gave him his passcode for "verification"!
The next day our phones stopped working altogether. Apparently the REAL AT&T flagged our account as having fraudulent activity.
This guy had used the info he got from Husband to add a line to our account and make hundreds of dollars worth of calls internationally!
It's all fixed now, but I wanted to remind everyone that you should never, never give info to someone that calls you! If you have business with the company they claim to be calling from, call the company yourself!
Not to me but to a friend of mine. The scammers have her name on their lists in bright red, 72 point font, bold, underlined, italicized, and with the word GULLIBLE in capital letters next to her name. She's been scammed more than once. I've told her many times to stop being so gullible but it falls on deaf ears.
A scammer called my Grandma once. She quickly foiled the scammer.
A scammer place claiming to be microsoft has my number and calls frequently. they have their number come up as a number in Illinois, ND, etc. All fake numbers.

My coworker got a pop up on her computer about "free" virus protection. She's an older lady, and not computer savy. She called and let this person gain access to her computer. At the end of the call this person gives her a dollar amount she owes. She started yelling at him and he starts deleting files. She shut off her computer and then it wouldn't come back on. She had to take it in to be fixed. I yelled at her and told her never never NEVER click on those pop ups or call anyone from the pop ups!
