It's official. School is canceled for tomorrow which mean work will also be.

So what are you geeks doing Monday?

I've been up watching the tennis, for two weeks.

I might sleep in, tomorrow. wink

At least, until 8am.

Then, I probably need to do some cleaning.

God knows, I haven't kept up very well, the past couple of weeks. wink

Well I got about 3 inches today and another few headed here by tomorrow. I shoveled off a patch for the dog to pee in, and also the sidewalk for him to get there...but the wind blew the snow all over it.

He peed on the sidewalk instead.

I just got a notice about a winter advisory for 4am till noon tomorrow. Black ice, snow, rain and strong winds.

The winds are here. It is gusting up pretty good.

The battle with $%#@ fleas continues:

Of our 3 dogs, it's the long-hair Dachshund that has them the worst. We have used Frontline, given him a bath & sprinkled powder on the carpet where he sleeps.

All he does is scratch...poor baby.

Last night DH gave him TWO flea baths. He said he could not believe how many fleas he saw. I'm glad I wasn't helping, I would have cried.

And, yes, we keep his hair fairly short.

We use a once a month pill. But he had to go through a little testing first and a starter that was 3 pills, one each day.

They start killing fleas and eggs within 15 minutes. They actually repel the fleas.

Starts with "com" something. Ask your vet. It is kind of pricy at first but I think it is worth it living with a dog in the house.

You can get a 6 month or a years supply of the pills. Monster takes it disguised in peanut butter.

For the constant scratching you can give Benedryl. Same concept of any rash. To help calm.

Bedding, carpet and any other soft surface needs to be treated. And the yard. You have to find the source.

We had a flea situation one time. Took forever to get things under control. Drove me nuts.

Oh, I know the source, Lily. There is a new dog (small terrier) that runs free and we have a chain-link fence in the back yard.

Our oldest dog is 17 and we have NEVER had fleas.

The vet recommended Frontline. I may call him again.

And thanks. I just hate to see him suffer.

Comfortis. Our vet required no testing. Ours got fleas from a neighbors wandering dog. We paid for the shampoos, sprays, OTC meds, the whole nine yards and nothing worked. The pills took care of the problem quickly. The pet meds sites sell it too if you get your stuff through them, but it was about 15 bucks cheaper for us to get them from the vet.

Snowed in again today! Although they're predicting a foot, this one is much less devastating than last week for the coastal people.

People lost homes last week on the coast near here.

No deaths last week, but 4 people have died so far in this storm. Two shoveling, and two car accidents.

I can't get over the number of people who are on the roads! I'm watching the traffic on the news and there are accidents all over. As much as I hate using my vaca time, no way would I get in my car right now.

Try sprinkling food grade DE on the carpets and everything. It's not toxic like pesticides and it works.
