Posting pics? Help and sticky requested

LL, mods, and other photo-savvy folks: can I ask a favor?

I am having a hell of a time trying to get a pic posted in the scrapbook section.

Could we make a "how-to-post-pics" thread and make a sticky out of it, to be placed up top in the scrapbook section of the break room?

Here, I'll start. Can someone finish and/or correct these instructions?

How to Post a Pic on TG:

1. Start by having a pic already saved on your computer or Facebook.

2. Go to the TG break room, scrapbook section, and open the thread you want to post to.

3. Click reply to start a post.

4. Click attach images beneath the reply screen. This will bring up a dialog box from your computer so you can choose the photo.

5. Find your photo and click on it.

Can someone who knows what they are doing finish and/or correct these instructions? Mods, can you make a sticky after they are done ?

Thank you!

I've never posted a photo either, Blankie.

I need to learn.

To post a pic that is already on your computer:

->Go to advance editor
->Check the box for attaching images.
-> Select images from your computer, then click upload photos.

This will add the pic as an attachment. If you want to add the pic in to the body of the post:

-> Follow above steps
-> Click insert (next to the file that just uploaded)
-> Click remove. This step isn't necessary, but will remove the photo from the attachment side while leaving it in the text body.

To post a pic from an internet host site (e.g. Facebook):

-> Copy pic
-> Paste in to advanced editor

Or:

-> Right click image, select properties
-> Copy URL address
-> In advance editor, click the Insert/Edit Image (Looks like a tree)
-> Paste link in Image URL, and Click insert.

Demonia, thanks for posting that.

But where is advanced editor? I don't see it on my TG page anywhere.

I hovered over all the icons on the TG posting page and it's not one of them.

It is an option at the bottom when you type in a quick reply. There us a Post Quick Reply button and one that says Advanced Editor. Clicking the reply button on a post takes you there as well.

Demonia, I found the advanced editor. But it didn't work.

I followed these instructions of yours (below). But the same problem happened as before. After I select the image from my computer, there are only two options - open and cancel. There is no upload photos option. When I click on open, it just brings me back to the blank TG posting screen.

->Go to advance editor
->Check the box for attaching images.
-> Select images from your computer, then click upload photos.

Next question, how can I delete pictures after they've been up for a while?

 You can only delete your posts for 24 hours.  After that, you have to request that a mod do it.

Blankie - I have hit and miss success with pictures depending on if I'm at work or home b/c I use different browsers.

Maybe this will help? Or at least show you what I'm looking at when I do the steps.

Attach Image:

Step1.jpg

Click browse, select file, then open. From their you should be able to click upload photo.

Step2.jpg

Next hit insert:

Step3.jpg

Then I like to hit remove and uncheck the attach photos block, but it isn't necessary.

Step4.jpg

Your image should stay in the post.

Step5.jpg

If yours isn't giving you these option, I would recommend uploading them to a hosting site and copy them over.

Thanks for all your diagrams, Demonia. It just doesn't work for me. When I click attach image, that's not what happens. It takes me to my pictures place on my computer. It doesn't give me that box with the browse button.

Oh well, we tried. I think I'll just give it up.

Interesting. Which browser are you using? I noticed Firefox has a button that says Attached Image. When I click it, it takes me to my files, to select a pic then open.  It does this when I click open :

FF.jpg
From there I am able to use the Insert button to put the image in the post and the Remove to delete it from attachments.  Chrome does the same as FireFox for me.

Here's how I do it and I've never had any problems.. I use Google Chrome for a browser if that means anything.

Right click on the picture you want to post. Click 'Copy Image URL'

In advanced editor hit the 'tree' box.

Paste the Image URL into the space within the tree box. Hit Insert. Done.

I use Firefox. Blankie, when your computer takes you to your pictures place on your computer, choose the picture you want to upload and click on the picture. This should give you a couple of options and I BELIEVE I usually click on the Save button (or is it the File button?) and it loads right into the message with no problems. Then click insert; remove, etc. as Demonia instructed. Play with it for a while and I am sure you will conquer it.
