DH and I have nothing planned today.  It's 2:20 am here and we just put a movie on.  None of the four that were on at one started a thread so I waited and then started it!  Tomorrow is supposed to be busy for us.  Mabsoot Monday everyone.

The cat woke me up by walking all over me and meowling in my ear - she SAYS she's hungry, but her kibble bowl is full, she has plenty of water, and she didn't finish her canned food from last night. Now I'm wide awake, and its too early to get up.

Mornin' everyone! For our Geeks who are going through bad weather - take heart ! This is the last week in February!

Sewer pipe problems still not fixed, after the town sewer guys were here two times last night to snake the pipe.

Still can't flush the toilet or run the water in the house.

The town guys are coming at 7:00. DH thinks maybe there is a water main break in the street.

Thankfully it's a slow sewer backup into the house, containable with lots of 5 gallon buckets.

But any sewer backup in the house is disgusting.

Going to work early (yay for bathrooms at work!) DH is the hero who will deal with this at home today.

Enjoy the day everyone!

I'm spoilering the gross stuff. DH has the town sewer guys at the house now. They've got the big guns for equipment and trucks this time. Working on the water main in the street.

Weirdly and thankfully much of the water coming in to the house is actually clean. So we're guessing a water main break on the street, that is sending clean water into our outflow pipe.

This is a good reason to have a sump pump in the lowest spot in the basement, to pump out any water that gets into the basement.

I've got a 3/4 horsepower automatic sump pump that pumps out onto the lawn where it slopes down to the street.

I just talked to Wayne. Only 4 guys made it to the plant this morning.

Only 1 made it to the sales office.

Not very many brave souls, in Texas!wink

Can't say that I blame them. I don't plan to go anywhere today. (Driving wouldn't scare me. Falling on the ice, does scare me.)cry

Morning everyone. We got a bunch of snow on Saturday. Then yesterday it was 49. A lot of the snow melted but not the big piles. Now it is below freezing again so it's not going to melt anytime soon. I'm done with Winter.

Third visit from the town water/sewer crews - they got a huge mess of roots out of the pipe. Pipe is flowing somewhat but not completely, DH isn't satisfied, but they won't do more (we can't legally force them to because the clog may be in pipe on our property. They are only responsible for town pipe). So Roto Rooter is coming on our dime. Don't care how much it costs - we need to be able to flush the toilet and run the water.

Needless to say, we will be taking down the small tree right near the pipe running from house to street as soon as the snow is gone. I think that is the "root" of the problem, ha ha.

Waiting for my dad to come pick me up. I was going to go down to the hospital with him early this morning, but he said he would pick me up on the way to the new hospital they are transferring my mom to. Luckily, we live in the middle of these 2 hospitals, about 20 miles in either direction, so it won't be any farther to drive at least.

Thanks Czech. I was so tired by Saturday that I decided to stay home yesterday. I did some laundry and stuff, but mostly just relaxed. I had walked over 10 miles this last week according to my pedometer, so I needed to just recover from that.

It will be interesting to see how it goes.. My mom can be really bitchy when she doesn't want to do something so the therapists may have a hard time getting her to do what they want.

My son is a little ball of bruises. I kind of want to cover everything in bubble wrap, but I know that's not really feasible. Does this stage end or should i just get use to it since he's a boy?

It doesn't get better until they are out on their own. Sports makes life a living ball of bruises for years. I don't remember DS not having bruises from something or other.

Wow, ours didn't even open today.

I'm wondering what will happen tomorrow? We're not going above 30 today, so nothing is melting.

I don't know if it's dry enough that this would evaporate by morning.

I guess we'll just wait and see. I'm hibernating until the ice is gone!wink

I'm further south than you FWM!  Not by much but it's enough that we don't get the snow like you do.  We RARELY get snow here.  There were a lot of places that opened late but no one closed.  But it looks like it's not letting up.  I think that's why they sent them home early.  We're wondering if they're going to have school at all tomorrow.  If not we'll get SS but we have a ton of things to get done tomorrow so it's kind of bad timing.  It's 29 here now but the high is supposed to be 30.

No snow here NJN, it was all sleet. My street looks like you could go ice skating on it! (Not that I'm going to try!)wink

I feel sorry for the poor birds. I'm afraid to walk across the patio, to get to the bird feeder. So, I just open the door, and throw the seed out on the patio.

The birds are eating it up. My cats want to get out there and chase the birds so bad. (Sorry kitties. That wouldn't be nice. Not going to happen!)biggrin

I'm not sure how they are going to make it up yet.  They have to make up anything after 5 days.  Last year they added an hour onto the school day.  Yes.  I'm in Ohio.  It's not just the snow.  It has just been bitterly cold.  Last Wednesday, it was -21 when I left for work.  We've been in the negatives since then.  Yesterday was better, but then last night it went to -5.

Well, in all honesty our snow isn't exactly SNOW.  It's a few little pretty flakes but when it lands it just sticks to the ice that's already there.  It's unusual for us to have weather like this.  The problem here is that we have it once maybe every other year.  It's just not feasible financially for our cities to own snow removal equipment like it is up north.  When I lived in Chicago the plows would come out every morning.  I remember.  I remember watching them as a kid to see if they'd plow our street so we could go to school.  Now that I live so far south when this type of weather happens we just hole up until it goes away.

Sewer back-up problem all fixed. We hired a drain specialist guy, he fixed it pronto.

Thank God! That was nasty and tiring. It is so wonderful to have a working toilet again.

Now I just have to mop the cellar floor with strong disinfectant.

It's not a boy thing, it's a kid thing. DD23 was all bruises head to toe as a toddler - and still is not the most coordinated And has a bruise somewhere or other all the time.  DD16 doesn't bruise even if she gets stomped on or punched (she isn't abused, it's sports).

DS chins were bruised all over from the time he was 2 until 6.  I always worried about DYS coming after me.  It was just a boy thing, they are not careful and very daring!

ETA that would be shins.  confuse
