I do think it could be fun. Talking about all the ways we have gotten hurt taking care of our kids.

The silly, freak things. Not the life and death things. The things we end up saying "really?" to and cant believe we did that.

I will start. Like I said in the Daily, I fractured my thumb while reaching across the bed to get C's passy. I lost my balance and to keep from dropping her on the floor I let myself fall onto the bed. Had a cast on my thumb and hand for 4 weeks. Know how hard it is to change a diaper on a 3 month old with a cast on your hand?

Another time I was playing with J and he was doing the peek a boo thing over the top of their play house. I thought I would get close to him and get him but he raised up really quickly into my face and busted my nose. I was real pretty for a few weeks.

Walked around for a few weeks with a "hicky" on my forehead when C stuck a suction dart to it. I pulled it off and there it was.

There are more.

OK. Now you share yours. We have all had those accidents.

I cant believe no one else hasn't been hurt in some silly way while taking care of their kids. No slipping on something, accidental collisions or toy incidents?

I find it hard to believe. We are all human and as such we do those things.

I sometimes step on Legos. But that is painful and not silly at all. Other than that, I can't think of anything.

I am sure something must have happened, we all slip and do silly things. But I am equally as sure that I don't remember a single one of them. Honestly, I don't remember what I had for breakfast, I am certainly not going to remember something less important/recent.

I had a roommate with two little boys.  Stepping on Legos is a pain all it's own.

Speaking of stepping on things.

I was playing in the floor with the boys. We had all the cars and trucks out. I got up to go check on supper and stepped on a tractor.

It impaled my foot and I had a hole in my foot about a half inch deep. Had to get a tetanus shot. Couldn't walk right for a week.

If no one else can remember what they did then please feel free to laugh at my mishaps. I do.

I was carrying DD when she was 1. DN3 was walking in front of me. I didn't see him slow down b/c DD was blocking my vision, and I walked into him, tangling all our feet together, and all three of us went down in the parking lot of the mall. My SIL saw it happening and couldn't do anything - after it was over, she said it was really comical the way it happened. We were on our way in to get pictures taken, and DD has scratches on her nose from the pavement.

LOL.. I can picture it now.

I have a picture with a scuffed up face too. C became obsessed with going up and down the steps on the front porch. It's just 3 steps but they are brick. So I would stand at the bottom and hold her hand.

She said, "I do it!" and yanked her hand and down the steps she went. Face first. It looked like someone had run a comb from her hair line to just below her right eye. I couldn't grab her fast enough when she started down. It started and ended in a second.

Kids! LOL!!

Thank you for sharing LL.

I remember my mom falling and breaking her wrist when we were at the roller rink. I remember thinking it was really scary at first, and my dad took her to the hospital and left me there with friends. After a bit I was getting a charge from telling my friends we ran into that I was so 'mature' because my parents had left me alone at the rink!

I was picking up Ds' crap up in the Family room, he was about 12. He had a dart gun. I stepped on the gun with one foot and shot my other foot (the dart gun was loaded). I was bleeding. I couldn't call 911. My BF whom I lived with at the time was a firefighter and on duty and was in charge, he was a Lieutenant. He would have gotten the call. I couldn't put myself through the jokes and humiliation. I bled for awhile, put some anti bacterial cream on it and after awhile it did stop bleeding. Could have used a stitch or two though.

Something that happened to my mom.

When I was around 9 I cut my arm pretty badly. I went through a plate glass window with it. When I jerked it back out, I ripped a huge chunk out of the bottom of my arm. It was a huge bloody mess and I needed to get to the ER.

Mom sat in the back with me, holding my arm and keeping pressure on it. We got to the ER, she walked me in and they took me immediately back and was trying to stop the bleeding.

My dad parked the car and brought my little brother in and they found us and mom was being a real trooper. She was helping me stay calm and washing my tears away and holding me so they could do what they needed to do.

The Doctor came in, and this was all happening very fast, he took the covering off my arm to see what was going on and it spurted blood. The doctor says "somebody get her a chair".

My mom passed out. She did so good until everyone that could help was there and that last little thing was all she could take.

So here I am on one table and the doctor is sewing my arm up, and mom is on the next table with a nurse taking her blood pressure and making sure she is ok.

I clearly remember when I was 7, my mother was sitting in the chair and she had my baby sister in her lap leaning against her bent up knees. I was in the kitchen doing the dishes and I turned to say something to mom - and I remember seeing it in slow motion, Mom fell asleep and her knees started slowly parting, and my sister fell through onto the floor - I couldn't get there to catch her in time. I always teased my sister about being dropped on her head.

No, but he didn't have use of that dart gun after that.

Your poor mom.  When I was in first grade - I cut the tip of my finger off, it was attached by a very small bit of skin.  They called my mom to come get me - that I cut myself and probably needed stitches.  Meanwhile, I'm holding the tip of my finger to the rest of it in an ice pack.  When she looked at it and saw it, she turned green and almost passed out.  Someone from the school had to drive us.  Thinking back on it, I can't believe they didn't call an ambulance or drive me to the hospital immediately - it took my mom at least 30 minutes to get there.  The doctor was able to sew it back on, but I still have scars, and that fingernail is shaped really funny.

I was talking about that the other day. How schools call the ambulance for everything now. Back when we were in school you had to be in pretty bad shape for them to even call your parents.

I remember falling off the top of a slide. You know the big tall ones, made of metal and when t the top you could over the top of buildings. I fell, landed on my back and could not breathe. Knocked all the air out of me.

Another kid finally helped me up and I walked to the door and was trying to tell the teachers what happened, still couldn't breathe well. They told me to get a drink and sit down.

When I broke my thumb, I had to wait till I saw mom that afternoon to tell her.

We were a tougher bunch back then I think.

My nephew almost broke my nose when he was 1 week old. I was holding him in front of me and I had no idea that at 1 week old he had any ability to move himself. Well, he threw himself forward and head butted me right in the nose.

When he was just shy of 2, we were playing on his play set. I was crouched down at the bottom of the slide to catch him. Well, he comes barreling down and knocked me flat on my ass - with him sitting on me giggling.

How about parents hurting the kids? We don't play family sports any more. For good reason
--my dad knocked out 3 of my teeth with a basketball. I was 5ish. On his shoulders and he handed me the ball to dunk. Except, he misjudged and hit me right in the mouth
--when I was about 7 he tripped during a touch football game and landed on me. Squish!
--he hit my sister in the stomach with a tennis ball - she had a tennis ball mark on her stomach for weeks
--he hit my sister in the ankle with a golf ball. She was no where near him. She had to go get X-rays to make sure it wasn't broken

Just yesterday I was sitting in a chair in the doctor's office and #2 was putting his jacket on and he swiped my face with his sleeve. Then he thought it was funny and started doing it. Over. And. Over. There was a father with an 18 month old who was laughing and I said, "just wait." LOL

Things parents have done.

We were at church one night. Regular service. I was about 5 maybe.

Wasn't feeling well and had laid over on my dad's lap.

Well everyone was asked to stand and I just laid down on the pew. Next thing I knew my dad sat on my head.

I was coaching my 5th graders and show them how to properly defend the ball in the key. Then I caught my legs up with one of the girls and over her and she fell and I fell. Luckily I didn't land on top of her cuz she is tiny thing!

I forgot about coaching softball. One of the girls tossed a ball to me, went to catch it barehanded. The ball hit just right and bent my middle finger on my right hand all the way back. I ended up in the ER with a swollen purple finger. I thankfully didn't tear anything, but it was sore and in a splint for about a month. The girl that threw the ball felt so bad

DH, DS & DS's best friend went golfing together when the boys were about 16 years old. DH was standing behind & to the side of DS as he was swinging the golf club at his ball. DS sliced so bad, the ball hit DH in the head, dropping him to the ground.
DH yelled, "you killed me!". The boys dropped to the ground laughing so hard, they couldn't breathe!
They haven't been golfing since. To dangerous for DH. 😉
