I'm very disappointed they didn't press the VUE maker more. Those cups are recyclable. We have the VUE machine and the cups are harder to get - we have to order online, and Keurig.com ticked me off recently, so I haven't ordered any. We've gone back to our French press, which makes much better coffee, anyway.

You can get that refillable container to make your own K cups.

I bought 6 of those refillable cups - love them!!  Easy to clean and so much less expensive.

While the cups and lids are not recyclable the stuff inside is. We open the cups and dump the filter and grounds in our compost bin. Makes for great compost.

Since DH was laid off we've been using the refillable cups. They are a lot cheaper.

I use the grounds for gardening too. There's a lot more than you think in that little cup.

I'll mention that to DH. Last year, he grew tomato plants in pots on our deck.

Who knows what he has planned for this summer? LOL

This is why I loved my German Senseo. They used coffee pods vs cups. Pods are made out of coffee filter material and you can even buy your own coffee pod maker (which I did).

The problem is, Senseo machines are extremely expensive here in the US, since Keurig has the market.

For everyday use, I use a burr grind and brew machine. Buy whole beans at Costco. A gold permanent filter. A 12 cup pot costs me about $1.25 (per pot, not cup). I gave my Keurig away, I never much liked the coffee anyways.

We still have a drip coffee maker.

My grandfather would tell us how "uppity" we were. He just put the grounds in a pot of water on the stove. You got a crunchy cup oF coffee.

We have a perk coffee pot. To me, that is the better coffee.

I have a senseo machine.  I LOVED it.  LOVED it.  It makes wonderful coffee.  But it's so hard to get the pods that I just put it away.

Like I said, we use the little filter inside and the grounds for compost. But if you recycle the plastic cups and tin lids could be recycled. It would be easy.

The K cups were a bust for me. Didn't make a good cup of coffee. And a big waste of money. Take way too much room to store, too,.

I"ll stick with my Melitta cone filter system. Much cheaper, and much better coffee brewing.

I did my cherry tomatoes in a pot last year. I had so many! The plant was taller than me. I used 1/2 potting mix, 1/2 manure.

This made me smile, Lily!  Gosh, I haven't had perked coffee in years, and I've often wondered why percolators are no longer popular?  It IS good coffee.

But the coffee maker has changed.  I put it away when they dropped their contract with Egberts.

But - OMGOSH!!!!!  They have my coffee back.  I LOVE the kona.  OK, little machine, you are coming out of storage!

I have a Kuerig in my office. Love the coffee it makes. Bought it off a FB yard sale site for $40. It's the middle model, I think goes for $100 brand new. My office mates are very happy I bought it. My only rule is no tap water and no tea pods can be used in it. I buy mix/match pods at my butcher. I have a Cuisinart drip coffee maker at home. I also bought a mini Kuerig on FB for $25. Decided I didn't want it and re sold it for $35.

I got DH a mini Keurig for his office. He loves it - uses it for coffee and tea. The coffee in their office is horrible, so that Keurig is much, much, much better.

Keurig has taken an easy process, making coffee and turned it into something that was a "solution" for what was not difficult in the first place!! lol And, Keurig coffee is blah. Like drinking brown water.

I use a fancy shmancy coffe maker. And I only buy yuban. Just opened a new can of it this morning. I drink a whole pot of coffee by myself every day. Sometimes a pot and a half. Never tried a kcup.

DH loves the Keurig, and it takes up less counter space than his previous machines...

So I stopped by the K-cup display at the store. They are on sale for $6.99 a box or $5.99 a box if you buy 5. I picked up a box and shook it. It was really light. I look at the amount in box 10. Um. no thanks.

It seems a regular coffee maker is cheaper in the long run. Filters can be reused and we have a reusable filter you just wash and use again. So the only on going expense is the coffee grounds.
