I had the worst night. Couldn't go to sleep till nearly 2 this morning. And then my mind kept going. I was sleeping but I was aware of everything. Then about an hour ago the racket started.
Guess this could be gripe butt Monday.
Oh well. After a nap I will be in a better mood.
Hope everyone has a great day.

Good morning! My body hurts! To much fun this weekend. Hope to put the back on my quilt today. That means I have to venture up to the top floor, dig through the rolls of batting, drag it all downstairs, destroy the dinning room (moving everything out of the way for floor space), and get to work. Once this quilt is done, I can start another one.
Blankie, Trudy and IKWTDS, I would like to congratulate you on the new record, but I won't add to your pain.
Lily, I do like the way you started this thread. Good info.
Good morning, SB and Demonia!

Teacher work day so the boys are at grandma's. They went refrigerator shopping with them and helped pick out a fancy stainless with side by side doors on the top part, and two drawers underneath.

Czech, I love to hear how people do quilts. People like you who know what they're doing, that is.
I'm a quilting novice - I've just done little baby quilts.
I could never lay it all out on the floor - the dog would have it ripped up in no time.

Late start to work today - the school had the fire prevention people going to each residence and testing everything. I stayed behind until that was over so the doggy didn't lose his mind. As it was, it was holding him and he shook and growled the the whole time they were in our place. Glad I stayed home.
I wish I knew how to quilt. Maybe I will take it up! My stepMIL is a wonderful quilter. She makes really artsy, intricate patterns. She has made a quilt for every grandchild in the family...except my kids. She even made them for her daughter's step kids and some of her step nieces and nephews (DDs' second cousins who are the same age as my DDs). And people wonder why I don't like her...
I hope everyone has a great day!

Glad ya'll like the daily. It's fun knowing these things.
I am not so gripy now. Got a little sleep.
The kids will be working on our flower beds this evening. It's going up to 71 or higher today!
I feel a Spring coming on!

MM, I found small quilts a good way to start. I've made a few baby-size ones, no bigger than about 3 feet square. Much more manageable.
A large quilt is quite an undertaking I find.

My grandmother made each of us baby quilts. She made my mom & her siblings full size quilts when they got married.

First I need to learn how to sew. I used to crochet with my grandmother, and I loved it. I need to get myself to a JoAnnes and learn how. I am pretty creative, I know I could make some cool stuff. Gotta get my bum out there and do it!

We had some quilts but I honestly don't I know where they went.
Have two that was made for my nephew and niece by their grandmother on their mom's side. Her mom said she didn't want them and was going to throw them away.
I took them and told her I would save them for her kids.
She didn't like it very much. If she dleant see $$$ when she looks at something, she doesn't want it.

I'm pretty sure Gordito has night terrors. It's freaking horrible.
Bonny - those are the worst. DD16 had them when she was a toddler. They are scary as heck. She didn't mind, but I about lost it. She was a sleep walker too.
Talk to your doc about it. At the time ours said there really wasn't much you could do about them or for them - just keep them safe.
I feel for you. Those were a rough few years for me. Just when I would fall asleep...

#1 would burst into tears during sleep for his first few years. We would go in and wake him slightly, just to get his mind to shift gears. Once about a year ago I went in and he was laying his bed, fighting something. Almost spastic. Then he jumped up, flipped around on all fours and faced the foot of the bed where I was. I wasn't sure what to do because I didn't want to scare him. He saw me, stopped, and I told him who I was and gently put him back to bed. He had no recollection in the morning.
But I got to noticing she was looking for a bathroom. She would go to the living room and start to pull her pants down at the chair so I would help her to the bathroom and back to bed. She never woke up. Never remembered it.

I've learned a lot from those ladies working at JoAnn Fabrics. I pick their brains every time I go there. My store used to have lessons. And a decent sewing machine helps a lot.

This is what my DD would do. She would talk nonsense, scream at things I couldnt see, kick her legs and flail around. It was awful. It was like she was possessed. No matter what I did, nothing helped and she never remembered it so I just kept her safe and guided her back to bed. Scared the crap out of me each time though. She was LOUD!

Well... I can't go to the JoAnnes in town. Last time I was there, I was buying scrapbook paper for a project for DD. The person who rang me up, a manager by the way, licked her fingers and then separated each sheet of paper. Lick, touch, lick, touch, lick touch...I had a damn fit right at the counter. I told her I wasn't buying those anymore, and went and got replacements from the salesfloor. She thought it was no big deal and didn't understand what I was complaining about. Besides having her disgusting spit on each item I bought, she ruined the paper!!

#2 was a sleep pee-er. He would pee everywhere. In his room, on the bathroom floor (but not the toilet), hallway, the side of his brother's bed. Wherever. The last time was on the hardwoods between his room and the landing. I just grabbed towels out of the linen closet and he woke up before he finished and kept apologizing. I kept reassuring him I wasn't angry. That was about 1 year ago (knocking on wood) so hopefully that phase is behind us. He was doing it every couple weeks.
We put those eye hooks on the doors cause a time or two C tried going outside. I didn't want to risk her getting out side and my not knowing.

My sister was a sleep walker. When we would go camping my dad would have to sleep in a 2 man pup tent with her so he could be close enough to feel if she tried getting out. One time were on a greyhound bus and she tried getting off in the middle of the night while the bus was moving.
Mrmhp. I hate everything, and I don't even know why. I want to stay home and play Oblivion, but we are going to see my Shy Boy's family for his sisters birthday.
Can I throw a load of laundry in the washer, and call that housework, and go back to playing my video game?

Have you given him any allergy medication? Sometimes the allergy medications can caused nightmares and terrors.
Nope. I think his molars are coming in though. He was doing great for a while. Sleeping in the crib and only waking once in the middle of the night. Its been pure hell the last few days.

C got a job! She's been looking for a while. She is working at a local day care. Monday-Friday, 8-6.

Sometimes you're the windshield, and sometimes you're the bug.
Today turned into the Monday from hell.
I got the batting down, a mat laid out, grabbed the quilt top from on top of the ironing board, fluffed it out and immediately noticed that a chunk was missing from a corner, a very ragged chunk. THEN I noticed several slits in both ends of the quilt. By now I am in tears.
A five year old (who just had a birthday) and shiny pretty scissors do not go together very well. If she had been here, she would have gotten her bottom smacked.
I'm still in tears when DH walks in. He hugs me and does the best he can to comfort me. Then he starts talking about solutions for fixing the quilt, hands me $200 and sends me to a quilt shop with the damaged quilt. He was hoping I could find the same materials and remake it.
So down the road I go, still in tears.
The lady's at the quilt store were as shocked as I had been and were wonderfully helpful with possibilities for repair. Unfortunately they did not have matching batiks, but a close match for new edging. I did have enough left over material for new blocks. I also bought a new kit just to make myself feel better.
On the way home, I kept going over the possibilities and the amount of work required to repair the quilt. This is where you get to know I hate math. But, I think I can repair it completely with what I have left, just a few more seams.
I have both ends ripped off, five blocks off, four replaced and in the process of working on the fifth block. I think I can make the trims work, just might be a half inch smaller all the way around.
Did I tell you I hate math?
