Poor Baby A is teething something fierce. And she has a cold. The last few nights have been rough but tonight she just can't get to sleep at all. I've nursed so much she doesn't want to anymore. I tried teething tablets. I've given Tylenol. Nothings working. If I had some whiskey I would be tempted to rub it on her gums if it would give her some relief.

What do I do? She is so exhausted. I need to help her so she can sleep.

Have you tried putting Vicks rub on her feet and putting socks on? I know tons of people who swear by it. Not kidding. And get a plug in Vicks. I told Chef about it when her son was sick and stuffed up and she said it really helped. They have these Vicks night light things that plug into the wall outlet. It's about eight bucks and the refills are about eight bucks too. So not hugely expensive. Anyway, you plug it into the wall and it's a little night light and you put the Vick's pad in it and it emits Vick's. I keep one by my bed when I get a cold because I can't use over the counter cold medicines. Chef said it really helped her little guy. You could try that. I know it helps me.

For the teething have you tried a frozen washcloth? Dampen one and then freeze it and let her chew on it. I hear that works better than any teether.

Seconded on the Vick's plug in and the Vick's on the feet.

I lucked out in that DS is usually a trooper with teething. He currently has 4 molars and his last incisor all coming in at once though and was very cranky when they popped through the gum. They're about halfway through now and he's pretty happy. The only thing that really helped with the teething pain was Tylenol and chewing on his stuffed animals. He refused all teething rings, frozen washcloths, baby Orajel, etc. He never took a pacifier so I couldn't even freeze one of those and let him suck on it.

Thanks chef! I'm telling you they should give me money to sell their Vick's plug in. Those things are awesome. And you can put them up during the day. Or move them around. I LOVE mine.

I will try the viks. Thank you. It will have to be tomorrow night tho. I'm not running out tonight, lol. She has 4 top teeth and 2 bottom, and didn't have a single symptom with those ones. They just popped out and it was really surprising. So I don't know what's going on now. She's only 8 months old. She seems to be getting teeth early.

Get the plug in AND put some Vick's on the bottom of her little feet and put socks on. Something about feet and pressure points and aromatherapy. I swear it works. Not sure how but I do know having my feet massaged feels like heaven and they say there are pressure points on your feet. So, I can't explain it but IMO it works. Unless you hate the smell of Vick's though. Like some weirdo I know!

Oh, and just a hint. In MY stores the plug in's are by the vaporizers and so are the little refill pads. They say the pads are good for about eight hours but I think they last a bit longer.

Johnson's also makes a vapor bubble bath. That's soothing as well. She needs to be sleeping upright if possible.

Saline and suck it out.

And you can rub the Tylenol on her gums too. It worked really well with my kids. Give them a regular dose and then rub some on.

I know people swear by those Vicks things, but the few times I tried it, the cold turned into pneumonia.

But we didn't have the wall plugs. Just the cream.

Steam would help too.

And when the teething got really bad, I used the orajel. It would work long enough for the Tylenol to kick in.

For teething, we used a piece of frozen fruit (usually orange) in one of these:

For the congestion, saline, suctioning and a humidifier always seemed to help. The Vick's plug ins never worked for us, but I know several people they have worked for.  For 8 bucks, it may be worth trying to get her some relief. for.

Saline nasal spray, wait a minute, siphon it out with the suction thingy. Be sure and replace it regularly because those suction things grow mold inside. The hospital grade aspirators are best.

www.amazon.com/s/

The congestion might be due to teething, and not really a cold. We tried Vick's, but like Lily's children, mine ended up with pneumonia. Humidifiers are helpful, and you can put a little high grade eucalyptus oil (like Do Terra) in it instead. But be careful with that, because if the little one has dust mite allergies, humidifiers will make it worse. I don't know how old your little one is, but if she's old enough, ibuprofen might help. Check with the pediatrician.

Put a pillow under the mattress at the head to create an incline.

I ended up sleeping upright with the baby propped up on all kinds of pillows. Colds and teething are a special kind of hell.

Good luck!

I know ours says not to put oil in it, are there some humidifiers that you can?

Well. My first post disappeared.

Thank you for all this information. Something you all have mentioned should help so I am going to start trying it all.

I have this one: www.amazon.com/Honeywell-V745A-Vicks-Humidifier-Warm/dp/B004GCJFB8

There is a little cup in the front where you pour the oil. The mist come out around this cup through a couple openings. The heat from the mist causes the oils to release its scent. The oil is NOT put in the water.

 For baby A or NAOW?

If you are running to the store it probably wouldn't hurt to pick up a bottle.

NAOW definitely needs a little nip to take the edge off.
