Oh, man. In college my boss gave me a new Saab for work. I worked in Maine but needed to commute to the main office. Let me tell you that car would fly!
I've driven 120. 85 is the norm around here. Seriously. We had some friends drive in from Missouri and when they got to my house they were both shaking. They asked if we really had a speed limit. They were going 75 and were being passed by everyone.

Oh, I hate that...especially if it's rainy or hilly.
We have a toll road where the limit is 85. And you'd better DO 85, or they will ride your bumper. I'm a competent, conservative driver, but I don't think today's cars are made to withstand high speeds - they shake and shimmy all over the place. 75 on the interstate is fast enough for most drivers to handle - especially for drivers who don't have years of experience behind the wheel.
The fastest I've ever driven is 100. I was racing my Dad. He won because I backed off at 100. We had just bought my brand new Mustang & were trying it out.
My uncle took me for a drive in his Porsche out in the desert and we were going 120. Smooth as silk, and I didn't have a clue. Until he told me and I glanced out the side window and noticed I couldn't really see anything.
My father used to race and loved taking all his cars out to "see what they could do." I don't think he's done that in years. I'm pretty sure his '67 Camaro packed some heat though.
Personally, I try not to exceed 10 over the speed limit on the freeways, and stick pretty much to the speed limit on roads.

Your dad sounds like mine.
That is what I thought after I read your post! Good Father Daughter memories!
well, fastest have been on 4 wheels is just over 205--in my brother's '68 GT-500KR--under the St.John's overpass on I-35--one of my brother's cop friends was clocking us--some serious legs but you'd better be going in a straight line
since then, several 150-plus in various 911s, vettes, a couple of Z-cars, etc.---but either my lady or myself are driving--she's a strong driver, fast and controlled but she likes getting there fast and I'm more about getting there in one piece

I drag raced before. Very fast. In my early 20's I had a Honda Del Sol ultra light. I had the AC removed and anything extra that could weigh it down. My cousin currently has a 1968 Dodge Charger that I've done the whole quarter mile thing in. Very fun. Although the fastest I think I've ever gone was on a Kawasaki triple widow maker. So I'd say the fastest was probably around 125-130 mph.
I promised my husband no more fast bikes or souped up cars until Gordito is older. My husband is a bit of a wuss when it comes to cars and bikes.

more power to you--have never been drawn to crotchrockets--my lady loved them when she was growing up--fastest have been on a bike is about 80 and that was fast enough--NO margin for error at high speed--one serious mistake ( either yours or someone else's ) and you're done

Its kind of hard to get married if one person is going to put themselves in peril constantly. Most of my fun on bikes and cars was mid -late twenties. I was single and invincible in my head.
Although for my 40th in a few years I'd love to go out to a track and drive a fast car again.

On the interstate I've gotten over a 100. I backed off when I realized it.
