I just had the worst dream. I dreamt that a cruise ship sank. Lots of people died. Lots of kids. It was so real.
Hate that kind of dream.

Ice cream actually sounds good. Something like butter pecan would be great.

I need to try to sleep some more but I need to clear my mind first.

I was SUPPOSED to sleep in today, since I need to work on my normal day off, but the guys had an emergency and called me in a panic at five, so no sleep for me. I might try to go back to sleep, but now that I am awake I am feeling all of my aches and pains. L

I have been up at least every two hours with this damn cough. I hate it! I just got up and took my allergy pill, hopefully that will help. Now I'm back to the recliner, I read that sleeping propped up helps. Ugh

Cooked sausage patties for the boys with scrambled eggs for two and pancakes for the other. I had half grapefruit and fried egg. Sending the boys off with their father to spend their Toys R Us gift cards.

It wasn't just work!  DD had girl scouts, softball clinic, two eye appt, and one dental appt this week.  Last night went to my bro's about 45 minutes away for my mother's bday.  It's just been crazy.  But I guess I am not alone, several friends have commented what a crazy week its been for them too!  Must be the time of year.

Stiff and sore but I got a shower took. May have to take something stronger than Tylenol though. Will see.

I am really interested in this extreme couponing stuff. Gonna look into it. Not looking for a stock pile that needs insuring but I really want to save money.

Hope everyone has a great day.

I don't do extreme couponing but have friends who do.  Any item they get for free they don't need they sell on the local FB yard sale site.  You make some good pocket change doing so.  I have doing a lot of shopping on Groupon for items I need plus use ebates.  I end up with wonderful inexpensive deals, even use it for restaurant.  I also sell clothing and household items on FB.  It's great.  And I've noticed my cash flow is so much better.  If you keep up with bargain hunting, limit yourself to buying only items you need, the savings add up fast.

I know people who do extreme couponing and what they don't need they donate to a food pantry. I like that idea.

I hate those shows. They make couponing disgusting IMHO. Look at their houses, not poor in the first place people. Some of them hoard stuff and look like they have OCD.

IMHO, normal people do not go to those extremes.

I'm not against couponing in general, just the hoarder types.

Any one can use coupons. Not just poor people.

But I don't want to be the one with a stock pile that lasts 10 years either.

I will take advantage of the 10/10 or those kind of sales on certain products now. Things that have long shelf lives that I know we will use.

And I am sure the food bank at church could benefit from learning how to coupon effeciantly.

I honestly dont know why a single person in America should have to go hungry if food banks or just regular people would do it.

Some of those people spend 40 hours a week cutting coupons, matching them up to sales, making lists and routes and doing the shopping. If they got a job working at the grocery store for 40 hours a week as a cashier they would make more - and they wouldn't have 35 bottles of Tabasco sauce in the garage in a barrel.

Well I have been looking for a hobby.biggrinbiggrin

Seriously though, I don't have the space for all that.

And I watch to see what they are getting. A lot of that stuff I wouldn't get.

But if I can save some real money on detergent, cleaning products and paper goods, it seems worth it.

Lily, being an extreme couponer is right up your ally.  You have the time and could resell the extra stuff to earn pocket money, you should really look into it.

Afternoon, y'all!

Just stopped by the house to pick up some things for the pot-luck dinner tonight. I've been at the community building since 6:45 this morning - running the chili cook-off - - - in the midst of torrrential rain!!!!! Fortunately, enough die-hard chili-heads showed up, so our cook-off was sanctioned (the contestants earned points towards cooking at the world cook-off)

Same thing tomorrow morning - my body is already protesting.

You should probably stay away from me on shopping day :P

I'm a huge fan of getting the best deal. I won't drive too far for it but I will price match if there's a sizeable difference. For me, that's usually $1 or more. I will not price match for a penny or two. There are 4 stores all pretty much on the same corner near me. Then there's the 99cents store not too far from that corner. I've been known to hit 4 of those 5 stores in one day and, rarely, all 5. It just depends what is on my list. I have a notepad app in my phone and I keep track of average prices for frequently bought items.

When there's a smokin' sale and it's something we use, I stock up. Paper products, baby wipes, dry goods, etc. I've also developed quite the love for one of our thrift stores. Fridays is 30% off kid's stuff and I love getting books, toys, and clothes for DS for super cheap.

DH likes that we can afford more fun times because I pinch Lincoln until he squeals wink

My time is worth something.  I am not spending 60 hours a week cutting coupons and planning my store visit.  I am not climbing through dumpsters to retrieve thrown away coupons.  Some of those people have to call ahead to make sure the store will have enough goods.  And yeah, when your kids can't sleep in their beds because you're using their rooms as storage you have a problem.  And it's not a good problem.  And there is no way on earth anyone will use up three hundred tubes of deodorant or toothpaste.

One episode the couponer used their stuff for more than one thing.

She would use coupons to buy up enough stuff to make her own laundry detergent. And she used the mayo for conditioner and toothpaste for cleaning tile and grout. There were other things but I can't remember them all.

A lot I notice start using the coupons out of necessity and continue because it became a way of life.

I think it's a great idea if you actually USE the stuff. I am not knocking it. I just don't see the point of having a barrel of Tabasco sauce like MM said.

Me either. But then again people shop at Costco and Sam's and bring home huge containers and bulk packages of stuff too.

It showed that woman making laundry detergent, she was shredding ivory soap into a drum of water and I remember granny using ivory soap in the kitchen sink washing clothes.

Never thought about using toothpaste to clean tile and grout. Might have to try that.

LOL I could have a minty fresh bathroom!

We shop at Sam's.  But we only buy what we actually use.  And not everything is cheaper.  They have quarterly sales, ask NAOW, and when they do they have stuff really cheap.  Like toilet paper.  We seem to go through a lot of that.  So I buy it up when it is on sale.  I have a small shelf in my closet where we can stack it pretty high and out of the way.  It saves us money.  I've been paying two dollars for a half an ounce of yeast and yesterday we got two pounds for four dollars.  Quite the savings.  We also bought the cereal they had on sale.  They had Raisin Bran, what SS eats, and Frosted Flakes, which DS can eat, on sale cheap.  We used to buy our k-cups there when they were on sale but we've gone back to using the reusable cups so we bought a HUGE can of Foldgers for ten bucks.  A can half the size at Wal-Mart was the same price.  I did buy whipping cream at Sam's and it was 80 cents cheaper at Wal-Mart.  So no, that was not a deal.  But if you look carefully and shop wisely you can get good deals.  And we don't stockpile.  I may have two or three but that's it.  No more.  I keep about two things of TP and laundry detergent around.  Stuff like that.
