So now the reports are saying that the black box has one of the pilots recorded on the outside of the ****pit knocking on the door to get it in. This is terrible I so hope it is not terrorism.

I had not heard this. Haven't caught the news. Been busy.
That's crazy though.

At least 8 minutes for the descent before they crashed. No word on how long the pilot was trying to break the c*ckpit door down before the descent started.

They only heard screams in the last seconds before the crash...as it finally became apparent that they were going to hit the ground. The descent was gradual enough to NOT drop the airmasks.
Something that makes this even more suspicious to me, since most humans know that an airmask drop means that there is a problem and without an announcement before or after said airmask drop, they would immediately think hijacking. At least I would.

I flew 1st class a lot when I would visit my family in California. I'd book coach then call and use frequent flyer miles to upgrade. I cashed in AMEX miles and took my father to Cali 1st class so we could go to his brother's funeral. My father hates to fly but enjoyed it that time. He always thought it was ridiculous that I would upgrade...until then.
Ok this is a total fail on the part of Eurocontrol and the airliner. This particular plane is small enough that there is no navigator sitting in the c o c k pit with the two pilots, otherwise there would have been someone else there when the pilot stepped out. Also, The locks on the doors are cipher locks and a warning system should have auto unlocked it, the co pilot must have blocked that.
Most airlines that fly in FAA air space, when there is no third person with the pilots, have a flight attendant stand in the c o c k pit when a pilot has to pee or something. This actually may be an FAA rule, not sure of that.

I heard someone say, I think it was Capt. Sullenburg ( or whatever his name is) say that many European airlines don't have the two-people in the c0ckpit at all times protocol, so it wasn't that it was small plane. He also commented on the locks, the pilot can disable the safety mechanism.

The U.S. is one of only a few countries that has the rule about never leaving just one person in the c0ckpit. They are saying now that more countries and airlines will probably adopt it.

If I read it correctly we only implemented this after 9/11.
So now the French prosecutor Brice Robin is saying it was deliberate sabotage of the aircraft by the co-pilot, Andreas Lubitz. Proven by a whole set of actions recorded on the ****pit voice recorder, that can only be construed as deliberate.
How horrifying.

So terrible.
We implemented it after 9/11 because that's when we made the c0ckpit doors secure.

They're starting to analyze Lubitz, the co-pilot who took the plane down. One report says he was fine, acquaintances called him happy and engaged to be married. Another report says he had a career time gap because of depression.
I'm sure we'll have all sorts of media delving into his mental health and his motives, and possible terrorist connections.
If they find he has terrorist connections, it wouldn't surprise me. A simple suicide sounds a little unlikely. That's a bizarre way to kill yourself, by taking down 149 others. There are also much less painful ways to kill yourself.
