Everyone but the religious seem to have rights. I believe everyone should have personal liberty but your (general you) choices should not trump my choices. Free economy means you (general you) have the freedom to buy from whomever you'd like or not buy from whomever you like but it doesn't mean you get to threaten and browbeat others into believing what you do.

I don't think it's just Obama. It feels like something deeper than that...lol. I don't believe in conspiracies but I definitely see there is some kind of force out there turning everything toward their whole agenda.

I'm sure there have been many events in history that felt much like this. I just hope the sensible people on both sides prevail. I don't care about who's having consensual sex with who and it's no one's business who I'm having consensual sex. (consensual as in old enough to legally consent)

Excuse me but where did I say I was EXcluding anyone? I have never EXcluded anyone for their sexuality. I am not obligated to INclude everyone. Not the rapist, not the child molester, not the murderer, not quite a few other sick bastards. My personal opinion is that if you wanted to buy a cake from me I'd sell it to you but that doesn't mean I get to decide what someone else chooses to do about it. Why does everyone but a Christian get to have an opinion?

The "force" is the advertised liking of certain movements from politics, whether that be conservative or liberals.  This nonsense with racial divide has got to stop. the shootings are in socioeconomically depressed areas where drugs and gangs thrive, and they don't thrive because of race, they thrive because of uncaring parents, and depressed economics; that is true regardless of whether they are black, white, asian.  So tired of the race card.  So tired of rich politicians trying to sympathize or say they understand a particular race issue when race is not hte issue.  Family, and raising kids or lack there of is the issue. Until people admit that is the issue, it won't be solved.

Disgusting.

You want rights? Quit taking rights away from people who disagree with you. It is absolutely disgusting that this business got threatened so violently that they closed. They shout bigotry. Well, pot meet kettle. If refusing to cater a homosexual wedding is bigoted, so is refusing to be tolerant of a Christian's beliefs.

There is a right way and wrong way to get what you want. Threatening the other side into silence is the wrong way. There is something seriously sick about people who think it's even remotely ok to bully, threaten, and harass others into submission. You want to coexist peacefully? Wonderful! I'm all for that! You want me to shut up and bow to you? Absolutely not!

I vehemently disagree with all the threats of violence. Those were wrong.

There is a right way to do things and a wrong way to do them. In my opinion both the people that threatened violence against the pizzeria were wrong and the owners of the pizzeria were wrong. Two wrongs do not make a right.

It is not up to the owners of the pizzeria to judge whether people are sinning or not. That is supposed to be left to God. Followers of the God that I know about are supposed to, as John said, "Love one another as I have loved you".

It is not up to the people pushing for gay rights to threaten death and destruction to people that disagree.

This whole situation saddens me.

Oh, and a news reporter felt sorry for this guy and opened up a GoFundMe account for him. They already have $400,000 worth of donations. He said they had been needing to remodel for a long time so they're going to open up with a new look.

How were the owners of the pizzeria wrong? They stated their beliefs when asked. Why is that wrong?

And, loving one another is not synonymous with condoning sin.

I 'm thinking, "No comment, Thank you! Have a nice day!" Might be the way to go, when asked these questions.

Don't stir up trouble. Don't give anyone ammo, to stir up trouble.

How can you say that?  Everyone here is saying homosexuals shouldn't have to hide who they are.  They shouldn't have to keep their mouths shut about what they believe in and what they are.  But Christians should?  Christians should hide what they believe?  Christians need to keep their religion secret to appease everyone else?  Why is there such a double standard?

And just for the record, there's a HUGE difference between someone saying "I'm Catholic (gay, insert whatever preference here)." and saying "I'm Catholic and all other religions are bad.  We're the only ones going to heaven."

No, I didn't say you did. I used that for an example. What I'm saying is people say it's wrong for Christians to say they're Christians and state what they believe in. But there's a huge difference in saying you're a Christian and this is what you believe as opposed to saying you're a Christian and you're better than everyone else. Does that make sense? I have no problem with someone saying "I'm a Christian. I believe gay marriage is wrong according to my religion." I DO have a problem with someone saying, "I'm a Christian and gay people are going to burn in hell for the sins they commit." The first one isn't judgmental. It's stating what you believe in. The second statement is judging.

Then why is them declining to bake a cake for their wedding considered condemning their lifestyle. They should get to decide what they feel comfortable doing in this case, not you.

I wish you would start posting, but understand why you don't. I'm sorry.

As many of you know, I was raised RC and attended grade school for 8 years.

The religion has many beautiful traditions, and I enjoy attending Mass, but I am, at best, a "cafeteria Catholic," and don't like many of the entrees. I was married in the Church, both of my boys were Baptized and made their First Communion, DH1 had a Catholic funeral, and I taught Sunday School for a few years.

The Quaker way is a much better fit for me.

Well, everyone makes judgments 24/7.  People should not be forced to violate their own consciences.  And, no you don't have to have to like or support their statements either.  It works both ways.

The Catholic Church recognizes Peter the apostle as the first pope. In my experience, yes, they believe Jesus started the Catholic Church and Peter was the first head of that church.

I have posted some things about the Catholic Churches I have experience with that I don't like. But I do not think all catholics are alike anymore than I think all brown haired people are alike. So if what I have posted has made you feel unwelcome or unwilling to post, I am sorry. I did not intend it to do that. I was simply relating my experience with the Catholic churches I have experience with.

She'll never get it burns because we must all believe just as she does. We're accused of shoving religion down her throat while in actuality she's trying to force her views on everyone. It won't work but she'll keep trying.

I don't get why it is okay to refuse service to someone because they are gay. It was decided long ago that race, disability, religion and ethnicity are not acceptable reason for refusing service, and yeah, I think it is high time gender and sexual orientation are mandated across the board as well.
Just do your freaking job, and stop caring so much about what private parts people have and what they do with them and with whom.
While nothing justifies the threats these people faced, I am so sick of this whole battle. Pizza is a dumb pawn in the moralizing game, as is cake.

That would be Rush Lumbaugh.  Come to find out this was not a news story in the least.  Some reporter went around trying to find a business owner that wouldn't cater a gay wedding.  When she talked to this pizzeria owner she had her fish on a hook and then the report lied about how many people protested in Tweets and such.  It is a fake news story, made  up.

 I love Rush. aww

Gender and sexual orientation ARE mandated in the Indiana amendment. The one that just came out, to amend the law that was passed recently.

"The Indiana amendment prohibits service providers from using the law as a legal defense for refusing to provide goods, services, facilities or accommodations. It also bars discrimination based on race, color, religion, ancestry, age, national origin, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or U.S. military service."

According to whom?  I get a lot of news from Brietbart.  I suppose you are going to say that CNN, MSNBC and Huff Po are "credible".  confuse

They absolutely are not credible.  There are very few news agencies these days that are credible and actually do real reporting and journalism.  WSJ is the only one I can think of off the top of my head.

So you're saying the pizzeria owner does not exist? Or the GoFundMe account doesn't exist?

It wouldn't surprise me.  Inside of two hours, Rush's account received 250K in donations and it kept going.  Apparently, people are very passionate about their rights to religious freedom and not having the gov't dictate what you have to sell and to whom.

If you are referring to my post, I am saying that the story is fake,  everyone exists but their actions do not.

Not sure why that's a bad thing.

A CBS reporter turned the GoFundMe account for fraud. JIC. Not because it was but because it MIGHT be.
