Did anyone ever get the Slinky to "walk" down the stairs?

Old slinky, yes. New slinky, no. A couple steps and it's done.

Cootie, I think I just sat there and put the bugs together. Don't really remember, actually.

The colored comics on Sunday were the best for this!

My mother thought it was silly, and wouldn't get it for us...my brother and I saved our allowance and collected bottles for deposits to buy it ourselves.

Oh, and I never got Mystery Date, again my mother thought it was silly. My friend had the game, and we played it in her basement, listening to Beatles records (which my parents also disapproved)

I didn't have Mystery Date either.  Generally my parents bought us games that my brother & I could play together.  Gender neutral.  I liked Clue, Parcheesi, Yahtzee & backgammon the best.

I think we has kids had it better then kids do now, at least toy wise. Our toys were cooler and our cartoons was way cooler.

How about easy bake ovens? My friend had one and I loved it. My mother wouldn't let us have one.

We never had one either, Blankie.

Heck, we were learning to cook and bake with the real thing, before we were even old enough to go to school!

Had one. Came with 2 little cake mixes and once that was gone, that was it.

Took forever to bake a cake.

C had one too. Same thing with her.

With the light bulbs now, they generate enough heat to bake a cake.

Honestly, I think that was when I learned that cooking meant cleaning. It wasn't as much fun then. wink

Yes, we were too. We all learned to bake fairly young. I loved baking brownies and had our recipe memorized as a kid.
