We have Cox. Not thrilled with it, but it's what's in our 'hood. Other than FIOS and I really don't want that. We stream, too, but you'll need internet for that.
I have Time Warner Cable. Not sure if you have them in your area. The other options in my area are DISH, our local phone company, and whatever services the major mobile phone companies provide.

We're very happy with our Directv - had a couple of glitches when we first got it, but they sent out a FABULOUS Geek who fixed all the problems in less than ten minutes! If you go for Directv, let me know in advance - they have a program where both you and I would get $10 off our bills for the first ten months. Even during major rainstorms, we've never lost our signal.
Our local electric company has direct (line-of-sight) internet - and we've never had a problem. They have several packages - we have one up from basic, and its like $40 a month.
I'm with Momala. We've had great success with our Directv. And yep, you can get up to ten people's account numbers. So since I have it, Lindley has it, and Momala has it that would be $30/month off your bill. They will take up to $100/month off your bill for ten months. Good deal for everyone! Ask around too. If you can get a few more you might be able to get ten months free! I'd be glad to give you our number too. Oh and yes, you have to have the numbers BEFORE you sign up!

I had endless trouble with Comcast until about a year ago. I got their new upgraded box & haven't had a problem since. When I did lose service once I could reboot it myself. I still think they are expensive but I'm very happy with their service now.
