I really, REALLY don't get it. Target sold out of it's Lilly Pulitzer for Target line in less than 5 minutes. A Lilly dress is normally about $200-$300 in her stores, and they are simply shapeless shifts in bright colors.
If there are any Lilly lovers here - I apologize, but please explain this fascination. We have one in our office, but I can hardly say "Your dresses are shapeless and guady, why do you like them?"

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
I don't like Lily Pulitzer's colors either. I also don't get the whole Coach purse craze. I got one for Christmas and it is so boring and kind of ugly. I'm sure there must be some nice ones for people to be going so crazy over them but I haven't seen one I like.

There are some nice ones and they are good purses but I don't like the ones that has their name all over the purse.
I just googled the Birkin purses. They are beautiful but way overpriced. Some of those purses cost more than my car...lol
You probably weren't around when I was on my Birkin kick. I wanted one SO bad, but G said absolutely not. (Not that I would have bought one, but it WAS fun teasing him )

I have no idea what brand my purse is. It is brown leather, the perfect size & it cost about $45 at Macy's. My last purse I had for about 15 years & was also brown leather & the perfect size. It was self destructing so I had to get a new one. For me purses are more of a tool than a fashion statement.

It is fun teasing them isn't it? Especially when they don't know we're kidding (or not...lol).

Let's make sure we don't forget which Lilly is being bashed.
I honestly don't know who you are talking about.
Google has become a daily thing lately.

The dresses at the Web site are cute. I like the bright colors. I feel you probably have to have a certain figure to wear it well.

I didn't even know Target did this kind of stuff. Put me on the don't understand list. But then I am not a high priced anything girl. Ask FWM. She was with me when I bought my last purse. I got it at the outlet mall. $8 I love it. It's washable and has the right pockets in the right sizes and in the right places.

I can see C in some of it. It isn't that bad price wise. 30-40 a piece.
I don't think it is meant for office wear. It's more weekend and vacation wear.

When I opened this thread I was wondering why Lawyerlady was questioning lilyofcourse's winning of a prize for Journalism. I attributed the extra "l" to a typo.
I learned something today. Now I know there's another overpriced designer.
Most of the Target designer stuff is purchased by people who resell it on eBay. It will sell out in 5-10 minutes after the store opems because people come in and just scoop up everything they can carry, put it on eBay, and return whatever they can't resell.
I liked the Missoni stuff Target had and I liked some of the Neiman Marcus stuff. I never liked Lilly Pulitzer, I am not a pattern person. I prefer solid colors bs a pattern. More norm core stuff.
OhFour - I am obsessed with Birkin bags. Don't have one, but I can spot one a mile away. They are gorgeous, but you have to be on a waiting list to get them. And if you haven't purchased from them before (ie they don't know you are good for it) you have to pay for it in advance and you still might not get one that season. People have been on the waiting list for years sometimes. Usually they go to personal shoppers, celebrities, and people in the business. A regular person has almost no chance of getting one, even if you can afford it.

I didn't get the whole lilly craze thing, I wrote it off as a PR planted article. I do like my coach bags. They not only last a long time but always look good and I don't pay a ton, I have an outlet near me and bought mine when they have a big sale.

I am a Claiborne girl. I have several. I love them. Bought 4 bags and 4 matching wallets about 15 years ago and they still look great. They were on sale at an outlet. Only $136 for all of them.
Don't care for the shoes though.

One of the positives about a coach purse is that the company stands behind it's quality. You buy a Coach, you register it and they will fix it or send you a replacement.
So for certain pieces, the investment is worth it. My travel briefcase is a Coach. It holds everything I need for a work trip, but is slim enough to fit underneath a plane seat, all the while everything is easily accessible. And given the workout the briefcase got, the quality was amazing and knowing I could get it fixed if it broke was reassuring.
I only have ONE Vera Bradley. It is her backpack from her Walt Disney World collection that my DH got me for Christmas. While the print is busy, the overall design is rocking (it has a security picket in the back that does not go down to the bottom of the bag) and the quality is top notch for what I need (a backpack that I can carry all of the stuff I need as the mother of a busy 6yo).
As for Lily. If you aren't a size 0-4, her clothes would make you look crappy.

I'd never heard of this designer before. So I checked it out. I think the dresses are cute. I'd never wear them, not my style - and frankly, I think I'm too old to pull that style off. But I think they're cute for summer days at the beach or park.
I had to find a smaller purse. If I carry a larger one, I end up being the "pack mule" for my whole family.
I'm done with it. They can carry their own stuff!
Remember the original "Price is Right?" When they ended early, the host would ask the women if they had random objects in their purse. If they did, he'd give them cash.
