Royal Frozen Food is recalling its BLINTZES products due to undeclared milk. The products contain milk, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label. People who have allergies to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
Blue Bell Ice Cream of Brenham, Texas, is voluntarily recalling all of its products currently on the market made at all of its facilities including ice cream, frozen yogurt, sherbet and frozen snacks because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
STD Prevention Science Series Webinar - Public Health in a Hostile Environment: Racial Inequality and STD/HIV in the US
Public Health in a Hostile Environment: Racial Inequality and STD/HIV in the US
by Adaora Adimora, MD, MPH
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Division of STD Prevention and the American Sexually Transmitted Diseases Association have partnered to bring you the latest research and best practices for STD prevention with the STD Prevention Science Series.
Please join us June 4, 2015 from 1:00pm – 2:00pm ET for the next STD Prevention Science Series when Dr. Adaora Adimora presents on the impact of racial inequality and social determinants on the process of designing interventions and performing research.
It’s now well understood that social factors are a major determinant of HIV and other STDs. But how can we develop relevant interventions? And what are the methodological challenges of social determinants research? This talk will explore how these issues can impact STD epidemiologic research among African-Americans.
Dr. Adimora is Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill. She studies the epidemiology of HIV and STIs. Her work has helped characterize the epidemiology of heterosexual HIV transmission among African Americans, highlighted the role of sexual network patterns in the spread of HIV, and underscored the importance of macroeconomic and social forces in racial disparities in the US HIV epidemic. She is principal investigator of the UNC Women’s Interagency HIV Study site, Chairs the HIV Medical Association and the National Institutes of Health HIV Prevention Trials Network’s Women at Risk Committee, and is a member of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Council and the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS.

Superior Nut & Candy Co., Inc. is recalling 4 ounce packages Pine Nuts because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail and elderly people, and other with weakened immune systems.
