Those of you who support all this illegal immigration are simply racists. You want a cheap gardener, strawberry picker, nanny. Who will "do the jobs Americans wont' do" for slave wages. You are trying to create a subclass of human beings to do your bidding for cheap, cheap , cheap. That is simply what this whole thing is about.
Given I am a third generation American (of WOP, POLLOCK and JEWISH descent), who was lucky enough to talk to my immigrant great grandparents/aunts/uncles about their experiences, I call bull**** on this view point.
Hell, some of my Hungarian Jew family got denied entry into the US before WWII and I still stand by my stance on it. Come in here legally and I will support you.
And I find it absolutely hypocritical that our immigration laws are held up to the world's court of public opinion when every other country in the world have similar immigration issues and view points. The Aussies don't want the Asians. The Germans and Dutch want to keep the "Stans" and White Russians out. Mexico's immigration policies were more strident than ours for years....
But the US is somehow racist for wanting people to follow some basic steps coming in?

It is not racist to expect people to follow the law. Every Mexican American I know doesn't support illegal immigration either. I don't care if they are Mexican, British, Canadian etc..... if they are here illegally they should be deported. If I'm in Canada illegally I should be deported. You have to respect the laws of the land you are in. My dd and her husband are now living in another country and they have to abide by their rules to live there. I had to extend my visa just to stay longer when I was over there.
have always believed in the golden door and those words on her body--my ancestors came here in the 17th century so was no statue to welcome them--since then millions of others have followed--coming to live in freedom, to give a better life to their families, to live free from persecution, to escape the terrors of war--but the vast, vast majority of them came to be Americans, to work through the steps to become an American, to obtain citizenship through legal means and methods in order to participate, to work, to vote, to pay taxes, etc.
what of them ?--because it's suddenly expedient for a chief executive, or his party, or his cronies in order to pad the potential voter base and assure their hold on power, we are to now suspend those laws that were part of the creation of this country ? that have served us well for generations ? that have formed a part of the basis of American citizenship / culture ?
to grant amnesty ( translate: a pass on fulfilling legal requirements ) is to allow anyone, of any background and any stripe of politics, for us against us, whatever, to come here legally / illegally and take up residence, claim benefits, vote and perhaps even cause major disruptions
what possible benefit could there be to those of us who are here legally ( or came here legally )to allow this to happen ?
the answer is " none " unless you're a liberal / democratic / socialist leaning sort and because you're terrified of losing power, you will stoop to any depths ( including eroding the fundamental mortar of this country ) to hold on to your power and influence
