Gary Myers of the New York Daily News reported Friday that the New England Patriots quarterback will indeed be suspended by Roger Goodell for his role in the DeflateGate scandal
It is pretty interesting. We hold our athletes to the highest moral standards in society. Our politicians and leaders of men, oh well. Is'nt that truly sad and bizarre?

Yes, it is indeed sad. The fact that woman can even declare her candidacy for President makes it appear the Democratic party thinks things like truth, honesty, integrity and common decency mean nothing.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
But, seriously, I agree, the football thing should have been investigated and he and fatboy Bellichick should have been suspended PRIOR to the Super Bowl. Or, they should remove their title. And, Bellichick should be kicked out of the game of football forever.
I agree with LGS and LL. People care more about sports scandals and what gender Bruce Jenner will be than what is going on with the people who are ruling our country and our lives.

Probably and good punishment. They had to do something I guess. The NFL should never have let Brady and Manning start the whole we want control of our balls to begin with. What did they think was going to happen?
On the contrary, I believe Pete Rose should be unbanned.
He will be with this next commissioner. The thing is Pete Rose didn't really cheat. He broke a rule. Cheating is worse...
Well, he bet ON his own team, not against them. And his Hall of Fame status should purely be about what he did on the field as a player. What he did later in life should have no bearing whatsoever. The records are the records.
How many other games did they or any other teams use deflated balls?
Probably every NFL team has done this and used in hundreds of games.
They'll make Brady the example. It doesn't matter if everyone else did it, there is too much hate for Bill, Tom, and the Patriots because we must always tear down winners who win too much.

I wouldn't call them winners. They are cheaters, plain and simple. If you have to cheat to win, then you aren't a winner.

If everyone's doing it as some have claimed then they are all cheating so nobody can win.
eta: Numerous retired quarterbacks have admitted to doctoring the balls to the way they like them. There are so many different preferences that I can't imagine who is really getting an advantage.

I don't think everyone is doing it....

Come on Tiny, are you really going to play "You are a Hater" Card? I will give that one a WowJustWow. I used to be a big fan of the Pats. But, once I found out about Bill's shenanigans, he should have been tossed from the league years ago.

I'm not playing the hater card but it's very clear from this thread alone that lot's of people here hate them. Whether it's because they cheat or because they win all the time I can't say for sure. If you don't see the hate then just look at the title...

I had no feelings one way or the other toward them until the cheating proof. They lost all respect from me with that. Hell, MY team (College) is the most hated team in all of college football. They got caught cheating. And I slammed them too. They got what they deserved.
The fact that most Pats fans won't even condemn the cheating is what bothers me. THAT to me is a sign of a hater fan...

Yeah, maybe they "hate" them BECAUSE they are cheaters? Duh.

Yes that would be one reason. I said that so I'm not sure why the Duh. He cheated, got caught, and has been suspended. I never said he didn't deserve punishment or censor but they are making an example out of him so why is everyone pretending they aren't. Do you deny they'll make him an example?

It's a freaking JOKE! If they wanted to "make him an example" they would have suspended him from the damn Super Bowl and games that matter. And, they would FIRE Bellicheats CHEATING ARSE.
And we all know this is a big nothing slap on the wrist, wink, wink, look the other way. Bellyboy should be FIRED and banned from football forever. But, they care more about those two than they do about the entire league and integrity of the game.

They had no proof at the time so if you're advocating players should be booted from the sport without proof then they should all be fired.

They should take the super bowl away from the Pats.

The punishment is a game. Goodall has to do something to deflect negative impact to the NFL, although doing an investigation that found evidence that the ref's did nothing about balls that were complained about puts the NFL in a bad light, not sure why he would do that. Brady will appeal, suspension will be reduced or eliminated due to there being zero evidence of his involvement or that cheating was a motivation.
I find it ironic that if the 4 game suspension stands, the first game Brady will play in is the Colts game.

I doubt that will happen. A rule was broken but not a rule that would have given the other team the game. The Pat's came back and scored even more after the balls were all taken away.

I wish they played by college rules. That wouldn't matter. It a player broke a rule, all games played would be forfeited...

What about the playoff game before the Colts game? Patriots 35, Ravens 31. It appears that they've been using deflated balls for some time.

Again there is no proof. They may have been using deflated balls but so may the other team have been. Unless there's proof it's all speculation.

In letters to the team and Brady, Vincent wrote that the league's investigation found ''substantial and credible evidence'' that the quarterback knew the employees were deflating footballs. It also said he failed to cooperate with investigators.
The investigation by attorney Ted Wells found that Brady ''was at least generally aware'' of plans by two Patriots employees to prepare the balls to his liking, below the league-mandated minimum of 12.5 pounds per square inch.
I was answering in regards to the game before with the Ravens. It will be appealed and they'll have to back off because there is no actual proof. If they had clear and substantial evidence it's sure not in the report. Only inferences and guesses (which are probably correct).

If they had substantial and credible evidence then it wasn't in the report. Tom was probably MORE than generally aware but unless they have proof they won't be able to get the punishments they'd like.
