Texas Geeks, Please Read This!

There was a report on my local news this morning having to due with all this rain we've been getting. I will try to find the link, and add it later.)

Flash flooding is not our only worry.

Snakes are on the move, in search of higher ground. They are crawling on to cars and windowsills of homes.

A woman up here was bitten by a copperhead. It's lucky she went right to the ER. She almost lost her arm!cry

Be very careful. Keep your eyes open. Especially when your working in your yard or garden.

I would hate it, if any of us got hurt.

(I think I will "Sticky" this for a couple of days. I want all the Texans to see it.)

Thanks for the warning.

I live in the ONLY part of the "lower 48" that has NO poisonous snakes. There's a house across the street for sale, if you want to move... wink

FWM, thanks for doing this.  I'm not in Texas but it reminds me of Hurricane Katrina back in 2005 - I remember those poor folks there had the same issue with snakes.

Gosh Honeys, I hate snakes with a purple passion.

I would feel bad, if I didn't put out a warning for our Texas Geeks.

I'm hoping that they will read this, and post that they saw it.

Once that happens, I can un-sticky it. smile

(I would think this could happen to any of us, that live in a state with snakes. So, it's good information, for most of us.)smile

We have snakes here too, among other wildlife. Not sure what I'd rather see - a diamondback or a coyote. I'm more likely to encounter a scorpion.

I'm done with diamondbacks. Now I have copperheads. But mostly black corn snakes. Hate them.

Our area has snakes, but the 3 outdoor cats that have adopted us keep the snake populaton around our house at zero. That's why I make sure they always have fresh water, and a few hand-fed treats.

I only have gardner snakes, harmless. There are some rattle snakes but those are in woodsy and higher terrain areas. They shy away from populated areas. I would rather have snow.

Tang, I'm so glad you saw this.

Forewarned, is forearmed! wink

I'm to the point, where I take a walk around the backyard, before I let Jupiter, or the cats out.

And, I check on them, often.

Wayne kind of laughed at me, when I told him about this news report.

And I was like, "Really, honey? Don't you remember that cottonmouth, that your freaking caught in our backyard, put it in a pillow case, put it in the back of your little green truck, and drove it out into the country, to turn it loose?"

Wayne said, "Sure I remember. But that was in 2000. Or 2001. When the new neighborhood, to the East of us,was being built."

And it was. But...these snake are native to North Texas.

And, we are saturated with water.

New construction, or not. They might mosey our way.

I'd rather be safe, than sorry.wink

(Oh, and after Wayne came back, with the pillow case, and asked me what he should do with it? I said, "Into the trash with it! I couldn't wash it enough times, to get the snake off of it!")furious

Into File 13, it went!biggrin

What are ya'll talking about? There are only 2 kinds of snakes in the whole world.

Dead snakes and alive snakes.

No wonder the snakes are on the move!

The weather man put up an interesting graphic this morning.

So far this year, we've had 20.90 inches of rain.

Our entire rainfall total for the year 2014, was 21.34 inches.

DFW is a soggy mess.

More rain is on the way! Yeehaw!cry

Trudy, this wet weather is a pain in the butt.

But, I still think the NE Geeks had it worse, with all the snow this past winter.

As long as the snakes and tornados stay out of my yard, I'll be happy!wink
