This is pretty long and you can read or skim it. But, yeah, sometimes it is hard for nurses and doctors to get an IV. So, yes, that was a problem. So, yes, it was a bit botched. But, as for his "suffering", seems minimal compared to what he caused others. But, next time, they should have a couple of .357 magnums on hand and if the IV doesn't work quick enough, then there ya go.
Wow. Firing squad would have been a helluva lot more humane than the agony this guy went through for way too long.
They need to rethink lethal injection if they don't have the right drugs.
It's not a good system, since it is a medical procedure, and since physicians won't be involved because in so doing, they violate their oath of do no harm.
Yeah, firing squad is quick and foolproof.

find it difficult to have much ( if any ) sympathy for Lockett--it was certainly not the INTENT of the state to torture him / make his demise excruciating--that it happened is a bit disconcerting but not much

Firing squad is the most humane execution there is.
One shot to the head, one to the heart. Done.
The problem is the mess and sounds that come from it.
People don't like it.

Did he show any remorse or feeling when he raped and killed that girl? Why should we feel sorry for what he went through?
I don't feel sorry for him. But we are supposedly a society that does not resort to torture. If you read the article, this was clearly torture.
We are no better than barbarians when we condone torture.
Execution should be swift.
Nobody condoned torture. It was just one of those things. They didn't set out to prolong it. So, while that sucks for him, I think it Sucked a whole lot more for his victims.
We have patients getting chemo or other iv meds that they have major issues sticking, all of the time at my office. It happens sometimes. He was uncomfortable before he died. I am sure his victom was much more uncomfortable and in more agony at the time of her death.

Yes, it can be very difficult to get an IV in some patients. That doesn't mean they intended to "torture" him. And, sorry there are people going through medical procedures EVERY day. I had 8 shots for my root canal. Was I "tortured". Give me a break.
But I don't get the outcry over having to find a vein to put them down.
Maybe the prison could force fluids before executions.
Would make getting a vein easier.
