Maine Murder Mystery

The Puzzler

RAY: A woman and her husband spent a week vacationing in Maine last summer, where they rented a small cabin, not too far from town and some well-known tourist attractions. About two months after they had returned home, the woman called the police department in that small town and reported a body - yes, a human body lying face down in the brush behind the very cabin they had rented.

The detective to whom she spoke said there had indeed been a murder, and only recently was the victim found in that exact spot. The detective was angry, though, and demanded to know why she had not called sooner.

He asked, "What, were you in a coma or something? Or maybe you were abducted by Martians?"

She said, "Oh no. It was nothing like that," and she explained her actions.

The detective said, "Oh, I see," and thanked her for her call.

What had she said?

I'll give a hint. The hint is "vacation."

No comments? No guesses??

Do you want me to tell you?

Is the 25 cents for gasoline much closer to home?

HINT: Think about things people do on vacation.

This. But this is dated, imo. Who uses film in cameras anymore?

Yeah I know but it was the only thing I could think of.

Lexxy, you got it.

Note that with digital cameras, no one is waiting for rolls of film to be developed, BUT

people who've taken a lot of photos might not look at them all right away.

Discovering something in the background of a picture taken on vacation could take a couple of weeks.

Or, for me, a lot longer. wink

I still have one of those disposable cameras with pics from my visit to Seattle that needs to be developed.........from 13 years ago. I doubt it will ever be developed. Do they even have places that do it anymore?

They do - but I probably wouldn't bother.  I developed some recently that were only 5 years old and they did not turn out well.  Film doesn't last forever.

Yes, and CVS still sells single-use film cameras. Do you have a CVS drugstore near you?

Your color pictures will probably come out pretty faded, but the sentimental value is probably still there.

I doubt they would turn out at all. The camera was found under the seat in the car & suffered through at least one sweltering summer & one freezing winter. I just kept the camera as a reminder of my trip.

Are you curious enough to spend $10 to find out?

Maybe.  I do have a CVS close to my house.

It might cost a little less (or more?) to have them printed on a CD instead of on photo paper. This will be a good option, since now all of us want to see them wink
