I’m a Telemarketer; Here’s How To Get Rid of Me.

You can't just screen my calls using caller ID. How can you make me go away for good?

We are on the Do Not Call Registry and still get calls.

I let them talk, then I firmly say no and hang up.

DH lay's the phone down and walks away. BWAHAHAHA

The first thing I say is don't call back or I will consider it harrassment.

Unless I want to play with them.

Another thing is to tell them you are recording the call. They usually hang up immediately.

My caller id shows up on my tv so I just don't bother even getting up. My phone will only ring four times before the answering machine picks up so it doesn't bother me.

If a telemarketer does get through, I immediately reply: "Are you aware that you just violated the Federal Do Not Call Law? Since I record all my calls, if your company should call me again, for whatever reason, they face a $10,000 fine per call." And I hang up.

I used to "play" with the automated calls. Whenever I got one, I would put the phone down next to the TV with a talk show on, and go on about my business. 30 - 45 minutes later, I'd check, and they'd still be conncted!

I hate the automated calls. Those should be illegal.

The best thing to do is to give the phone to a toddler, if you have one. They speak the same language.

My son will pick up the phone and start talking in Spanish. He just keeps going. They hang up on him. This is probably wrong but he had one group that kept calling over and over and over. He tried everything. Finally they called and he answered the phone, "(911 What is your emergency?) That ended the calls.

My mom will talk forever to them. Saying no over and over. I don't have the patience for it.

Dad doesn't either.

Ha, some animal group called wanting money to "care for abandoned animals" and "could we help"?

Dad said sure, I'll send you a box of bullets.

They hung up. Never called back.
