Just saw the pictures and heard the news reports about the flooding and tornado activity in these two states.   Plus the fact that more heavy rains are expected on the 25th....    For all of you that live in those areas, take care and be safe.

Thanks Karl. We have more rain than our ground knows what to do with. I saw ducks floating down my street the other day. Seriously, that is not a joke. The lakes are too full. We're having snake issues and all kinds of other issues due to flooding. So many roads are closed.

I understand hurricanes and blizzards. I do ot understand tornadoes. DD is moving there, haven't slept in weeks.....

We're still marrooned - fortunately we have more than enough provisions, and the power company is quite reliable. More rain in the forecast for the next 7 days   furious furious furious

Yes. I'm here with you Momala. All our ponds here are overflowing. I guess that's why the ducks are swimming in the street. We have had to cancel all our outside activities. My kids are stir crazy.

Places that are prone to tornadoes know how to prepare. There are warning sirens, radar and shelters.

With all the rain and bad weather, I've been thinking about all you Texas/Oklahoma people, as well as others in the path of the bad weather. Hope everyone is doing as well as you can and that you get a break from all the rain.

We've had a ton of rain too, which we needed, but enough is enough. Haven't had the bad weather though, and any flooding has been minor so far.

We've just been hit with hail - small, but still damaging to the watermelons. The sirens are blaring - a tornado just touched down (briefly) in Stockdale, 7 miles from us. The phones are all bleeping with weather alarms, and the TV news casts are telling those of us in mobile homes to lock ourselves in a windowless bathroom.  The wind has picked up - 30-45 mph.

We're just really getting hammered. furiousdisbeliefcry

I posted some pictures in the daily. Our electricity went out for awhile but we were prepared. There's one company here who went completely down. The estimate is that 150,000 people are without electricity and will be for awhile. We're doing okay but we also know that it can turn from okay conditions to dangerous in the blink of an eye so we're being extra careful.

Not my neighborhood, Blankie. We're on high ground.

But, ponding on the roads can make driving dangerous. I hit a puddle coming back from the plant, and almost lost control of the Jeep.

I'm going to avoid driving in the dark, until our weather improves.

Yep. That's one reason we took SS home early yesterday. So we could see any flooded roads. It was okay but like I said in another thread there is standing water EVERYWHERE. Everything is full so if it starts raining the streets immediately flood. Here, if it's actively raining it is not safe to drive. The roads get covered and you can get stranded and/or die very easily. If you go out when it's not raining most of the roads are drained but all the gutters, medians, ditches, fields, ponds, and everything are full to overflowing.
