Oh well, so much for our plans to go camping in upstate New York in a few weeks.

I do have to admire the planning that went into this. Quite a break.

I just saw a bit of this on the news. Took a lot of planning. And help.

By the time your camping trip comes around, they will either be recaptured or long gone.

I wouldn't be so sure about that.  There get away driver backed out so what ever plans they had for getting away by vehicle are gone, unless they steal a car.  They are in a remote area so there are not a lot of cars to steal.

I hope that if there are any Geeks anywhere near any places those men are going stay safe. You are in my prayers that God keeps you safe.

I wonder what inspired the woman (who evidently works at the prison) to get involved with these two and agree to drive the get away car. Glad she got a little sense at the last and backed out... Still in a world of hurt, I am guessing.

Saw a bit of this on the CBS Evening News which we get over here in the a.m.

Yeah, me neither. We were planning a camping vacation soon on both sides of Lake Champlain, NY and Vermont. Now I think maybe not.

What bothers me is I'm not seeing any updates on the manhunt. So they must still be at large.

I hope that means they got across the Canadian border and are far away.

They have now expanded the search outside NY.  That was today's update on it.

Maybe the state should implant tracking chips in every high risk felon.

The murder whose nickname was "Hacksaw" is the one the woman fell in love with. For the life of me I will never understand how women fall for convicts. What would he possibly have to offer?

Thanks for interpreting that correctly, ed. Yes, since they have not yet been caught, and it may be a while before they are caught, I'm just hoping they are far, far away. Perhaps way up in the remotest part of Canada where no one lives. Or maybe drowned in the Arctic Ocean. Yeah, that works.

The woman suspected of helping them and being the driver of the getaway car is in the hospital with heart issues, yeah, she realized what she did and is having huge anxiety. I fear these two will kill again before being found. They must be desperate by now.

I hope they catch them soon.

Did they ever catch the guy that killed the two cops with a long range rifle? He disappeared into the woods if I remember right.

Now they've picked up their scent at a Subway sandwich shop and a gas station.

They were rummaging in trash for food. Good, that probably means they are hungry and weak.

Now they've charged her. She gave them hacksaw blades, drill bits and lighted eyeglasses.

She seems to be cooperating. I hope she's giving them enough good information to help the search.

Eventually they've got to surface somewhere for food and water. Some expert said they are not very good survivalists, they're city guys.

I think the woman is giving them time to get away because, from what I've read, she is giving the authorities information a day at a time. Not all at once. I know she's not under arrest or asking for a lawyer or has a lawyer, but I would tell them everything at once! I hope she realizes how lucky she is, they may have killed her as soon as she showed up with the car, or shortly thereafter.

The authorities need to motivate her to spill everything she knows. And fast. Throw the book at her if she doesn't tell it all quickly. Every day she holds back means the killers get further away.

Today's update says she planned to drive for 7 hours with them in the getaway car, but she didn't tell authorities where they were planning to go. They need to whoop her butt into telling them where they may be headed.

She's in jail, and just pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of promoting prison contraband and a misdemeanor of criminal facilitation. Her next court appearance is Monday.

Richard Matt, the older escapee, has a genius IQ according to his son. And he has escaped from prison before.

He's the one who murdered and dismembered his boss. One cop compared him to Charles Manson.

But they only gave him 25 years to life for that, and they called that the maximum sentence. What?

That's insane. He should have gotten life without parole.

Not that it would have mattered much. He seems to be a mastermind about escaping.

No one has ever escaped from this NY prison before.

He should have gotten the death penalty.  Then, he wouldn't have been able to escape and be a danger to others.

Here is one article:

news.yahoo.com/prison-worker-allegedly-plotted-for-escaped-inmates-to-kill-her-husband-134705923.html

Ahead of Joyce Mitchell’s expected court appearance Monday, reports reveal new information about the prison worker who has been accused of helping two inmates escape from upstate New York’s Clinton Correctional facility.

Both the New York Daily News and New York Post reported Monday that, according to a source, Mitchell, had planned to drive convicted killers Richard Matt and David Sweat away from the prison and to her home, where they would then kill her husband, also an employee at Clinton.

Prosecutors say Mitchell, who worked in the prison tailor shop, provided Matt and Sweat with the tools for their escape, including hacksaw blades, drill bits and chisels. The 51-year-old had allegedly planned to be the pair’s getaway driver, but backed out at the last minute and checked herself into a hospital instead, later confessing her involvement in the prison break to State Police.

“Basically, when it was go-time and it was the actual day of the event, I do think she got cold feet and realized, ‘What am I doing?’ ” Clinton County District Attorney Andrew Wylie told the Associated Press over the weekend. “Reality struck. She realized that, really, the grass wasn’t greener on the other side.”

When contacted by the Daily News, Wylie would not comment on the prisoners’ alleged plan to kill Mitchell’s husband. But the prosecutor did confirm that Mitchell had previously been investigated for a sexual encounter with David Sweat, one of the escapees, but Wylie said there had not been enough evidence to discipline her or remove her from the prison at the time.

NBC News reported Monday that, following the earlier investigation, Sweat’s accomplice Richard Matt began to work his charm on Mitchell, gaining her affection to the point that she “thought it was love,” according to sources familiar with the investigation.Sources also told NBC News that the post-it notes have been found along the prisoners’ escape route.

I saw it in several articles on CNN. Also on New York Daily News.

Her husband did not bail her out of jail. Maybe he couldn't afford the $100,000. Or maybe he's had it with her.

This CNN article from today says the trail has gone cold. It also says Joyce Mitchell needs $220,000 bond or $110,000 bail to get out. That's more than previous articles said.

Maybe they're upping it.

Keep her in the can until she spills it. All of it.

I was thinking maybe Pacino for the older guy, Richard Matt. But Pacino's probably too old. Needs to be someone with extreme intensity, like a Johnny Depp. But looking more like a thug. Matt has a genius IQ and his eyes are like drills that go right through you. Skeery.

For David Sweat, the younger guy, I don't know.
