Two thirty am and I should probably be asleep but I'm just about to start watching some Orange Is The New Black.  Guess I won't be up early.

4:23am and I should be sleeping too. Binge watching Supernatural.

But now I am yucky in my stomach. Happens when I stay up too late.

And it's hot. Even with my fan going and the AC on. It's hot like it's about to storm.

Morning all! I think it'll be a home organizing day for me today.

DH and DS built awesome shelving throughout the cellar, and I need to take all the stuff that is crowding the closets in the rest of the house and put it down there.

And then organize the shelving into sections. Maybe I'll make signs.

My bedroom closet has been so crowded for so long. It will be like heaven to move that stuff down cellar.

And the cellar's the coolest place to be in this humidity.

Enjoy the day everyone!

Can they come up to my house and do the shelving thing in my garage?  I would love that.  I have a bunch of standalone units but it is so much neater looking to have continuous shelving.

Crazy bad dreams...We were moving into my maternal grandmother's house. My brothers were younger, but both my boys were there (as kids). The place was a mess, kitchen was dirty, and all these people were there and wouldn't leave. One of the dogs ran away & I wanted to go find it, but couldn't find a pair of shoes.

Mom & Dad were exhausted & upset, and then my grandmother told me that my brother had been paying girls to take photos of them.

I made myself get up, walked into the kitchen, and...BAM!...remembered what happened last night about 8:00. A Black guy was knocking at our front door, dogs were going crazy (as they should!) and DH actually ANSWERED the door.

I'm buying a gun, hopefully NOT to shoot DH.

Oh, his excuse for OPENING OUR FRONT DOOR TO A STRANGER: "He could see we were home because our cars are in the driveway."

Oh what a beautiful morning! Sunny day with maybe a few clouds. Humidity is supposed to drop some today. I hope so.

Stayed up way too late for me for a Friday night and had one drink too many. Tummy is a little unsettled. Woke up way too early. Thought it was 9:30 but it was only 6:30. Going to be a long day. Maybe a nap this afternoon.

Busy day ahead. Schoolwork, I forgot about a paper that is due tomorrow. Only 1-2 pages so should not be too difficult. And I need to type up about my interview (due tomorrow) and start on the presentation of my practicum site (due Wednesday).

Need to finish the last planting for the garden I forgot about, onions and shallots, but will wait until humidity drops.

MIL is lucky that we love her. Last night she called, thinking that I said we were going to keep her car from her. What I told her was that I wanted to make sure she was okay to drive before she got her car back. We may just take it back anyway. No, this is not from any medicine or dementia. She is just an extreme worrier. She needs something to worry about. We just shake our heads anymore.

My DH opens the door, too.  Drives me crazy.  Then he doesn't lock it after they leave.  WTF?

Sometimes I do open the door to see what they are peddling this time.  But I don't open or unlock the screen door which is always locked.  And the back door is usually locked too so they are not distracting me.  Anyone who knows us will use the back door so we know 98% of the time someone at the front door is a stranger.  I've been known to ignore them while the inner door is open.

Yeah, don't forget the fun. You're so conscientious all the time, I like to hear about you having fun.

I'm taking the dog for a beach run now, before I tackle the cellar shelving.

My DH does this too. He also answers it every time our will-not-stop-talking next door neighbor comes over unannounced, which can be often.

I make sure I step out to the backyard if he lets her in. She's like a Jehovah's Witness. Talks your ever-lovin' ears off. I have to physically remove myself from her presence.

My home is my sanctuary. I don't want anyone invading it. Unless they are invited by us.

DD is playing in a tourney this weekend with the girls who are all going to Sweden together. They have never played together as a group before so this should be interesting. She is eager to get to know them before the trip. 16 days is a long time to be with girls you don't know. Well, she knows 2 or 3 of them. But that's it.

Still working on the back yard.

One of my raised planters was delivered yesterday.

We went to the farmer's market in Keller this morning, and got some herbs. I got them planted.

I hope my other raised planter comes today.

I'm excited to get more herbs planted.smile

Wayne just told me he's taking this week as vacation.

We'll have to plan some fun outings.

I hope everyone has a fun Saturday!smile

I'm going out now to mow the lawn.

Afternoon.

I have got to get to a store today. We are out of bread and milk. Think I'll get stuff for spaghetti.

As for opening the door to strangers, our carport door was standing wide open until I went to my room around 2 this morning. The front door is open a lot of times too.

I know I live in a different kind of place. I just can't imagine being that afraid in my own house.

Think my parents have taken off to Cherokee NC with the cousins. This visit has been a lot of work for my mom and dad.

 This was a STRANGER, Lily.

Life in the big city is different.

And I wasn't afraid, but why should I open MY door? I'm not going to give you money, or let you use my phone, or sit through a talk on religion.

Based on past posts, you are afraid in your house.

But I wasn't pointing at you when I made that comment. I wasn't pointing at anyone.

It was a general statement.

But kudos to you.

Ok, did all the errands, and installed a new curtain rod for the new sheers in the dining room. The dog had put snags in the old sheers starting when he was a puppy, now that he has calmed down I hope he is gentler with the new ones. I was going to toss the old sheers but on the way to the trash can I realized the material would make awesome ghosts for outside Halloween decor, so into the Halloween decor storage bin they go! Need to install rods in the bathrooms next. It gets frustrating.

I know the dog wants to go for a walk so I may do that. Haven't gone hiking yet, perhaps a neighborhood walk will suffice.

Afraid in my own house? No. Protective? Yes. Preventative? Yes. While I don't live in the city directly, there is still crime here by burglary and home invasion. There are scammers that will go door to door.

The front screen door to my house has always been locked for as long as I can remember, even when my grandparents lived here.

When I get in the car to go somewhere, I put my seatbelt on and lock my doors. Am I afraid that I will get in an accident or be car jacked? No, but you can bet that I will make sure I am protected just in case.

Hopefully everyone is having a good day so far. Sitting here waiting for the PT place to open. Regretting not having time to eat something before I do PT. My first med of the morning requires no food for an hour. I usually don't eat before PT, but this morning my stomach is very loud, and I feel a little nauseous. I will be okay since this situation is not uncommon in my life. I was so tired after getting home yesterday that I just had some chips and rice crackers. I should have had a regular meal but did not have time to go grocery shopping due to my schedule.

Going to meet with friends after PT, but will buy something to eat beforehand. Hoping the day will turn out well.  biggrin

IVY on the walk, I'm doing mine early in the morning these days. And then after supper, too. It's getting too hot to walk in the middle of the day. And you must be even hotter in Texas!

I still set the goal of 10,000 steps each day. Most days I do 8,000 or 9,000, sometimes 10,000. And I don't beat myself up if I don't make the 10,000.  But I still set the goal, because if I didn't I'd probably slack off completely.

Happy gardening and walking!

I still set the goal of 10,000 steps each day. Most days I do 8,000 or 9,000, sometimes 10,000. And I don't beat myself up if I don't make the 10,000.  But I still set the goal, because if I didn't I'd probably slack off completely.

Happy gardening and walking!

It's in the mid to high 70's at 6am. I have to get up and go, or it won't happen, Blankie.wink

It's too hot, after supper. We're already in the 90's.cry

My goal is 13,000 steps a day. But, I haven't come close lately.

I blame it on the yard work.wink

But, tomorrow I'm getting back with the program. My alarm is set for 5:30!

Thanks Blankie! I'm having fun with it!

Hoping the day will turn out well.  biggrin

Nice to hear from you, RTL. Enjoy your day.

Is that how you stay in shape FWM - all that yard work?

You inspire me.

I'm going out now to mow the lawn.

Blankie, it has definitely helped me to drop a few pounds.

Sad to say, my step count has been suffering. I really need to get out for a 6am. walk every morning.

Get the walk in before I work on the house and yard.

I vow to set my alarm, and get back to walking tomorrow morning.smile

I usually do about 4 miles or about 60 minutes. If I do the full 10,000 steps, it's more like 5 miles and 75 minutes. I can't keep up the 15-minute mile pace for that long, though. My secret is shorter walks 2-3 times a day, then I can keep up the pace.

Hurray for us and our walking! Keep up the good walk!

We keep our door locked. Force of habit.

One of the DS' friends has a bad habit of just walking on in on the rare occasion the door is unlocked. She's been told to knock but there's a language barrier so I'm not sure how much she understands.

You people intimidate me with all your steps. I do about half that. I can't imagine my knees surviving if I walked that much. I work out on the elliptical almost every day which helps.

My DH opens the door, too.  Drives me crazy.  Then he doesn't lock it after they leave.  WTF?

Your neighborhood may be safer than ours? Don't you live in a gated community?

flan

No, we don't.  The family beach house in Cali is in a gated community.

It is a safe neighborhood, but still....you get gypsies driving around offering to remove trees, etc.  And there have been a couple burglaries a few years ago.

We have had the police investigating a white van driving around neighborhoods trying to sell jewelry and vacuum cleaners to people. They are not licensed and if the police catch them they will arrest them. There are other suspicions surrounding the van but none proven yet. It was spotted in our neighborhood about a week ago. It keeps on the move so it doesn't get caught. IMO

I hope the police catch them.

That sounds fishy, to me.

I belong to a local mom's FB group and trust me, I get more info about what's going on in town by the women on that than on the news!  Apparently they are marketing the stuff they are selling as name brand stuff.  Name brand vacuums and the jewelry is supposed to be real gold and diamonds.  One lady bought a necklace from there and found out it was entirely fake.  That's how the whole thing came to light I believe.  They are very fishy.  I don't know what they are doing.  Last weekend they were reported to have been seen in our neighborhood so we told the kids if anyone in a white van asked them for ANYTHING not to stop and just hit the first familiar house they came to or to call us on their cell phones.  Not taking any chances...

They seem to float around town. Between all the burbs and downtown. It's like they have a system down. Weird. I know several towns around here the police have issued statements saying they are looking for them. But so far they haven't been caught. Which makes me even more suspicious. If they were innocent people selling stuff they wouldn't have to hide.

I want a security system. Dh used to be opposed to this idea, but since he is gone so much, it would benefit me a lot. So he recommended one that you install yourself and has a low monthly fee. It looked really great and I was pretty excited to order it until I checked out the reviews which are horrible. So back to square one. And I bet DH isn't going to want to go with a traditional alarm system, so back to square one of getting him on board too.

Get a good set of camera's, you can watch the house from your computer.  Ask your local PD about security systems recommendations.

 That's a good idea, thanks!

Mainly, I am worried about intruders while I am home and most security systems seem geared to protect while you are away. When Dh is gone, it worries me that if there is a problem, my kids are sleeping in different parts of the house.
