Rock band Van Halen's ongoing feuds have not settled down despite the band's original lineup being back together, with guitarist Eddie saying he and the group's frontman still don't get along.
Eddie Van Halen, who along with singer David Lee Roth helped the California-based rockers shoot to stardom in the 1970s and 80s, could not resist sharing details of the pair's troubled relationship before they kick off a tour several decades later.
'He does not want to be my friend,' Van Halen, 60, said of Roth, also 60, who has been an on and off again member of his band since first leaving in 1985.

Keeping his friends close and: The band has been together since the 1970s (left), though Roth left in 1985 before rejoining for the most recent rounds of touring (right, in May).
'How can I put this. Roth’s perception of himself is different than who he is in reality,' the guitarist said in an interview for Billboard magazine.
'We’re in our 60s. Act like you’re 60. I stopped coloring my hair, because I know I’m not going to be young again'.
He also criticized Roth for liking dance music when the rest of the band, which now includes Van Halen's son Wolfgang and his brother Alex, likes rock n' roll.
The group is now getting ready to play more than 40 shows across North America, and Van Halen said that he continues to work with Roth to please the fans who prefer voice that sang the original recordings.
While the band's namesake has a working relationship with his current singer, grudges still persist with Roth's replacement, Sammy Hagar.

Dis-chords: Van Halen said that he needed to use a video camera to help Anthony (left) learn the parts to his songs, though Hagar said that the bassist was one of the greatest in the world
The shaggy blond, 67, took issue with Van Halen's Billboard interview, particularly a part where he said that he had to use a video camera to teach bassist Michael Anthony what to play.
'F*** you Eddie Van Halen for saying that about Mikey... You're a liar,' Hagar said in a YouTube video.'
Hagar maintained that Anthony, his current partner in a band called Circle, was 'one of the greatest rock n' roll bass players ever in the world'.
He said that Van Halen would only tell him what to play to mask his own poor playing on stage.
The lead singer known as the Red Rocker had previously insulted his former bandmate, writing in a 2011 autobiography about Van Halen's isolation and alcohol abuse.
roth is a better showman but sammy is a much better singer / vocalist in every respect--anthony is extremely talented--just watch, listen
as far as acting your age--eddie might want to try and emulate jimmy page--though he'll never have jimmy's talent, evh might be able to borrow some of his class--we would all benefit

I like Roth's voice sooo much better. Don't care for Sammy. So "better" is sometimes just a matter of opinion. Van Halen without Roth is just boring.
As for Eddie, obviously he is a guitar God, no question. But, whining in the tabloids doesn't help his image much either. Grow the F up and pretend to get along in public for the sake of the band. And, fight your private battles privately.
Mike Anthony was a neighbor. He was a nice guy. I used to see him and Sammy Hagar around town shopping. Both seemed very nice. I saw Roth at a Rod Stewart concert in the 80's. He seemed like a pompous ass.

He probably is but who cares? I like his voice and showmanship much better.
These guys are way too old for all the drama. I like Roth and Hagar for different reasons. BUT, they made Van Halen two totally different bands when they were front man.
Well, what does "act your age" really mean? I mean, years ago, you wouldn't still be touring as rock band at Van Halen's age. How is he 'acting his age"? So nobody should color their hair if they are going gray or what? Is that what "act your age is"? And, really what is worse - being old and acting old or being old and acting young? You really can't win no matter what you do, so how about Just Be Yourself, whatever that is.
If you are older and you dress older, then you look like a frump. If you are older and you dress too young, then you look like an aging hooker. Sorry, we all get older. No matter what you do, somebody won't like it.
Proof that, no matter their age, the band drama never goes away.
These guys are going to argue til they die.
As for front men, both Roth and Haggar do what they do well. Both distinct voices and both fit.
Anthony on the other hand, well, no. He's like the ugly chic in a girl band. He never fit Van Halen.

Very brief stint as lead for Van Halen. 11th album.
That didn't work at all.

I'm not even a rocker anymore and I know them. A bad is not a good band without a good bassist.
OH, I agree . You need great bass. But, for most bands, the focus is on the singer or guitar player. Of course Gene Simmons played bass and he was one of the front men along with Paul Stanley.
Primus/Flying Frog Brigade/Sausage/Oysterhead/a billion bands that are essentially the same (Les Claypool
Beatles/Wings (Paul McCartney) (yeah, I consider both him and John as lead singers)
Pink Floyd (Roger Waters)
Al Cisneros (Sleep)
John Doe (X) - well, he split singing duties Phil Lesh (Phil Lesh and Friends) - also, of course, did a bit of singing in the Grateful Dead Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzy) Mike Watt (fIREHOSE) - again, he split duties
Tom Araya from Slayer
Peter Steele from Type O Negative, just remembered. And that dude from Blink-182, Mark Hoppus.
