So, we're creeping up on our ten day no processed food/no refined sugar challenge.  SS is so stoked.  I've already given up the sodas.  So I'm guilting the rest of the family into it.  I think they'll do it and give it a chance.  I've been looking at recipes all over.  Our taste buds are going to be exploding!  And it will be absolutely home cooked and healthy.  We are going to try to keep our sugar under five grams a day.

I threw out all my processed stuff so I wouldn't be tempted to go back. Well, I do still have a box or two of mac 'n cheese for the boys, but I'm not tempted myself.  And after months of skinnytaste.com, the boys aren't even asking for the old recipes anymore and eat (and enjoy) meals without hesitation.

Today is DS2's birthday. If I get motivated, I'll bake him a cake.

Today is the next to last day of Grandma Camp. My nephew has been here all wee. It has been an exhausting blast lol. Today he is going to a family reunion with his other grandma. So I am going to go surprise my cousin at work. Today is her last day at this job she's had for like 7 years. She got a promotion to a different department and starts that Monday. I'm going to get some balloons and a treat for her. We are the same age and have gone through similar rough times these last few years. I'm so happy and excited for her! Oh, and then I need to go to work for a while. I took 2 days off to spend with my nephew, and I need to catch up.

Happy Saturday all!

Good luck NJN.
Have a fun day DG.
morning flan, fwm, and fnw.
I might go luggage shopping today. It's supposed to be 98°. All the summer stuff is going on clearance. Fall clothing and school supplies are already showing up in the stores. Yuck! Thankfully our warm temps stick around until October or later.

I just gave my dog a bath. Usually DH does it, but can't because of his back.

I suck.

DD landed safely in Denmark and is on the bus to Sweden. She sent me a selfie and looks exhausted but excited.

Today I am cleaning out the fridge (something is yucky in there), doing laundry, and trying to attempt to start the packing. I can at least get the bookcases emptied, the dvd's and books packed up and such. That shouldn't be too tough.

Hey ya'll.

SB, we go back to school Aug. 6th or 7th. Which reminds me, both boys need new shoes.

Happy birthday to your son, Flan.

I need to find something to do.

Have a great day ya'll.

Not until we get back from vacation - so it will be around Aug 10 or so. But DD and DH are both gone until then so it's all me!

What is processed food? Good for you, NJN.

MM, at least the house is quiet so you can sort and pack. Enjoy your day.

Flan, do you have that cake baked yet? Give your son a birthday hug from me, please.

DG, glad you were able to take a break and enjoy some family time. Have some relaxing time for yourself today.

Hello Lily, FNW, FWM, and SB!

It is going to be in the high 90's here today. I'm glad I got the beans picked this morning.

DH and I have to plaster the hallway ceiling upstairs today. It fell (about an 8 by 15 inch chunk) last night as I was walking upstairs. DARMIT!!! I was lucky I didn't get hit! Old houses...

Wow Czech. Was it showing signs of falling? cracked?

MM that is so exciting for your DD, glad she landed safely.

Don't go cheap on the luggage SB, a good quality piece will last you years and years.

I've already had a message about someone wanting to rent DS' townhouse! I advertised it last night on a local FB yardsale site.

I've finished the yard work and finally showered. I am relaxing on my gorgeous deck. I say gorgeous because I finally found the perfect deck cleaner. Composite decking develops black mold that gets under the surface, normal deck cleaner doesn't get it clean. I researched an bought Olympic Premium deck cleaner. You spray it on the dry deck, let it sit for 15 minutes or so and take a stiff brush to it. Then rinse it off. I had my power washer guy do it. The deck looks brand new. It is wonderful.

Anyway, afternoon all!

LOL flan. I'm laughing because my attempts at bathing our dog have been hilariously bad.

I can only do the outdoor hose, or bring him to a dog bath place with the restraints and all.

We'll take him pond-swimming tomorrow, so that qualifies as a bath in my book.

Snacks, water bottles and menus have been been delivered for the 190 UN kids coming in from all over the US and Europe.

Shopping done for the party. Still have a quick Walmart run to do.

Food is done for the party, most has been delivered to neighbors and is warming up in the slow cookers.

I have my feet up for the next half hour or until the DJ gets here. Still have to move a table and chairs for people to sit in.

Need to make my adult tropical lemonade. Then the fun starts!

Mostly anything prepared.  boxed food, canned food.  But we're focusing on sugar.  In the past year I've made a big attempt to cook healthier but have not focused on our sugar intake.  Since I've given up cokes we're going to try to go back to the basics and not have any ADDED sugar.  Natural sugar is okay.  If we can keep it to under five grams of added sugar a day we'll be doing so great.  Sugar is going to be our main focus along with reading ingredients.  Yep, we're excited!

I hope you're all having a good day!  I need to get more fruit today for my infusion water.  I need blackberries.

He's about 20 pounds so I should be able to do it in our tub.

I did not expect the pain in BOTH my knees.

With his skin condition, he has a special shampoo & is supposed to get weekly baths. It's been a month & I keep forgetting.

The title of this topic compels me to post. I am skinny and it is Saturday! biggrin

The temps will be in the 90's today, and the winds are barely blowing. The humidity will feel like 100% today. Last night was very humid and I tossed and turned all night, trying to get comfortable.  My sheets were damp. I will put down a towel before I lay down starting tonight until this high humidity goes away. It doesn't help that it is also raining. And no, as I have posted before, A/C is not permitted in my apartment. My fans are doing overtime, and I can only imagine my next electric bill.

I am visiting with friends at the mall, where we can sit in air-conditioned comfort. Anything that is not outdoors is great right now. I was joking with my physical therapists yesterday that I would go to grocery stores, not to shop, but to enjoy the coolness of the refrigerated aisles.  biggrin I wish I had friends with A/C in their homes so I could visit and be cool.

Otherwise, besides seeking cool places, I have no other plans for the day.

It's raining. Thunderstorm rolling through.

Ya'll remember my saying my mawmaw was being admitted to the hospital on Monday?

She is still there. Tests have showed A-fib and that here heart is only pumping at 25-30%. A cath shows no blockage.

They now think she has C-dif as well.

She is very, very week.

If you all would, please say a prayer for her. Thanks.

A new watch (he broke his old one), a funny T-shirt, coffee, a toy motorcycle (he wants a real one!!!)

I'll get Itty bitty to draw a smiley face on his card.

There may also be some cash in his card!

Caitlyn wants one too. I told to take a course and get one. But she would have to be 100% responsible for it.

She's looked at a couple.

Glad I mowed the lawn first thing this morning.  If I didn't have Ac I would be at the mall soaking their's up and probably buying things so paying for the electric is saving me $$ lol.

So I have another house guest. I think so far this summer my spare room has been empty a total of 2 1/2 weeks.

One of the girls on DH's team has a miserable excuse for a father. Her parents are divorced and in the summer she is supposed to spend time with her dad. He is verbally and emotionally abusive. The mom is battling the courts now to have visitation reduced or monitored. But since he hasn't left a mark on her she has to continue seeing him. We have seen some of the texts he sends his daughter - they are horrid. She wanted out of there and so DH asked if she would like to help out with some of the day camps they are running while he is out of town. She agreed, and her dad agreed, so she is with us for a week. Her mom dropped her off crying and thanking me. She is the nicest girl, I can't stand the thought of her with that monster.

Coming from a horrible divorce myself I thank you for taking her in and giving her a job that she likes and gets her away from her father.  DD is good, cool now with her father but it is getting tougher.  Her father is an azz, nothing I can do about it, but if DD was given the opportunity you have given that girl, DD would so welcome it.

Thanks IKWTDS and SB. She is a seriously sweet girl, wno gets good grades and is always smiling. She has said thank you about 100 times and took out the trash without me asking. What's not to love? Of course, it's a tad awkward because DD isn't home and it's just her and I. But we are getting to know each other. She is spending lots of time binge watching Netflix like all the other teenagers. She is happy just to have quiet time to herself.

She is still there. Tests have showed A-fib and that here heart is only pumping at 25-30%. A cath shows no blockage.

They now think she has C-dif as well.

She is very, very week.

If you all would, please say a prayer for her. Thanks.

I am so sorry.  Prayers  go out to you and yours.

Lily I missed that part about Mawmaw.  I am so sorry, I do hope she feels better.

Thanks, I appreciate it. When people send their kids here, we always tell them we will treat them like our own. We mean it too. I joked to DH that I am renaming our apartment "DH and MM's Home for Lost Girls". Lol but he said it sounded like a sex trafficking house!

It amazes me how crappy some parents are. Those kids are lucky to have you and DH in their lives MM.
