First day of music camp here.  I think DH and I are way more excited than SS.  We'll see how he likes his first day.  I'm a bit annoyed because they go from 9-12 and they are asking that you provide them with a snack.  Like LGS says, I don't know why we have gotten to the point that kids can't go more than three hours without eating.  Ridiculous.  These kids are age 6-12.  If they eat before camp they are not going to starve in three hours.  It's music camp.  Not running camp.

You'd be surprised how much work they do in those classes. And they will drink a lot of water.

Hope he has fun.

I have nothing I have to do all day. Just some laundry.

I need to start getting school stuff together. Both boys need new shoes.

Have a great day ya'll.

I figure he'll get thirsty singing. I'm sending him a cut up apple. Tomorrow he wanted some nuts so I gave him a small baggie of nuts. We have some dried fruit I'm going to send one day.

We saw school stuff at the store yesterday. I told SS I couldn't believe it was out already. He said most of summer was over. Goofy kid. Not so.

During the winter the mice come in because we live behind a huge field. They get cold and come in looking for food. I guess we got a stray one. There was a leftover trap from winter behind the closet door. It got stuck in the trap. We kept hearing squeaking and couldn't figure out where it was coming from.

Sometimes it is nice to do snack time just as a break in the schedule to switch to something else.  The kids can be sitting eating snack while most of the leaders are switching things around.  At least, that's what we use it for sometimes - a time filler.

A long skinny balloon blown up and paper mache.  Then strings to tie it on.  I got felt for the black jacket and white collar.  And shiny blue for the bow tie.  I WILL post picture.

Great picture.

Our Walmart had one too. I can't tell you how much employees hated it.

Parents would leave kids in there like it was a day care. And the constant noise from the machines was very annoying.

We would beg not to be put in front of it.

Once, a family left their child in there when they left. He was about 3. A little Hispanic boy. Barely spoke English and he was 3 so it wasn't very clear anyway. They took all their stuff home and realized he wasn't there while unloading the car.

The police was called when we realized this little boy had no one in the store. The family showed up about 45 minutes after we found the little boy.

I don't know what happened to the little boy.

Thanks, all :)

Lily - When I was a kid, my parents would sometimes park me in the arcade but they never left the store and I never left the arcade. But, it was a different world then. I fondly remember a mall we used to visit. It had a huge Rube Goldberg-esque machine that would release pool balls on the half hour and hour. The half hour release was small but the hour release was huge and encompassed the whole machine. I'd park myself in front of that machine every time we went to that mall while my parents shopped. They knew that I wouldn't go anywhere.

I think was horrible of that family to forget that little boy. How do you forget your kid?

In my 5 years at Target it happened about an average of once a year. The worst is when the kid is old enough to know that he/she has been forgotten and starts to cry because they feel unloved. It's awful.

He is gorgeous by the way! So big! I wanna squeeze him!

Third interview out of the way. I think it went well but these people are tough to read. After each one I am not sure how it went. When that happens, DH says it means I did well. I just can't tell and I don't want to get my hopes up. I should know in 2 weeks or so.

Chef, he's such a cutie!

SS's first day at music camp was a HUGE success! So happy. He came home with a list of songs. Anyone want to know one of the songs he's singing?

Chef, I can see letting a kid 6 and up hang out in the store arcade. And the mall arcade was the only place to be at 12.

But this was a 3 yr old. He was still in pull ups. Had a pacifier in his mouth. He may have not been 3 yet. They put him on a horse and walked away.

I really think they were trying to leave him permanently but chickened out.

MM, hope this all turns out for the best for you.

NJN, glad SS liked it. Let me guess. Let it go.

3 of the people in my department went to lunch with a vendor today. There were 6 of us in total.

We went to a new place called Noodles and Company. It was OK. Not at the top of my list...

Anyways...

There were about 8 4 person tables and 8 2 person tables. All of the 4 person tables were taken and there were about 4 2 person tables scattered about the place (none beside each other). Plus they have 5 6 person booths.

Well, the VSS in line in front of us took the very last booth. So we had to split up to eat, which completely negates the point of a business lunch...

I gave her the MM stare, but she really didn't care...

There are two restaurants around here where you sit with strangers.

If your party doesn't fill the seats at your table, they seat others with you.

I know that would freak a lot of people out but it works here.

And usually, by the time you leave, you've made a new friend.
