That's how I found out my account got hacked. My crazy ex replied to the email asking if it was finally really me. Idiot
Well I could have phrased it better - my point was there are ways to communicate to alert someone about the hacking w/o giving up your personal email. I keep several accounts for this purpose, one of them gmail. My expanded Hotmail account is never given out except to friends.
