I'm much more worried about, the beat down on males.
How, they are made out to be pigs, without manners, and prey on women.
How, they are made to make to look stupid, in commercials. (They do this to Mom's too. It makes me sick, that 4 year olds, are disrespecting their parents, to get some fish sticks.)
Girls and women have more opportunities in Western Society today than in any culture at any point in recorded human history.
It's almost laughable that they seem to think they are so "limited" when in other societies women are much more repressed.
I doubt if they are even given limits--they are just TOLD they have them by the people who make videos like this and their ilk.
Heck, even when I was in high school 25+ years ago, girls were never really told they were "limited" in what they could do. More of my female classmates, as a percentage, went to college than my male classmates.

Well, I could agree with you--but then we'd both be wrong.

I agree, women here and I would say all western cultures has just as much rights as men. In most countries in the middle east and a few others a lot of the women are treated like 3rd class citizens .

I'm sick, at the thought of all this.
It makes me sad.
I agree, FWM. It's unfortunate that so many think the only way to advance women is to step on men and subdue them.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
I like those videos. I think it is important to encourage kids both boys and girls. Society has a way of beating you down. Strong women make for a strong society. And, we also need to focus on boys as well. I think boys are the ones falling through the cracks. So, religions of "peace" like Islam where you can dominate and kill others becomes very appealing if we do not immerse our boys into Christianity and Western Civilization.
I don't think girls even think about limitations unless they are told about them. This commercial tends to tell them, which I think is a backfire.
I, too, am concerned with male bashing.
Thats what i meant. Even my sister 25 years ago was told she needed to go to college, even though all she ever wanted was to raise a family.
Exactly. I was told I could do anything I wanted to do, but I had to go to college.
To me, college is about much more than the degree. It's about becoming an independant adult, being around people with different ideas, and bridging that gap between childhood and adulthood.
Of course, with how crazy insane college has become, it's just not a reasonalbe choice anymore for the "experience". If you don't need a degree for what you want to do, it can become a choker around your neck with debt.

Well, she was on the mom and dad plan--and flunked out, anyway.

I've heard the "girls don't do that" a couple times. Made me more determined to do whatever it was.
And when someone says whatever is "like a girl", I take it as a compliment.
The only time I didn't like hearing the "because you're a girl" was when my cousin wanted to help pall bare our grandfather.
I thought she should if she wanted. But her mom wanted her to sit with her. It's just the two of them. I don't know why her mom didn't just say that instead.

well, have been fortunate to have been surrounded by powerful women my entire life ( along with some exceptional gentlemen as well )--several female siblings, my mother of course, three aunts, couple of grandmothers and my lady herself--all of them self-confident, intelligent, articulate and accomplished in their own right--never heard any of that
" because you're a girl " stuff around our house--though very specific guidance regards what was expected of a LADY--rather important distinction

I can't see the video so I don't know what it's like. But, I feel like all women should get some education. Honestly, I will probably not ever go back to work. We can afford for me to stay home and with my knees the way they are I probably won't find a job in my field that will work with me. However, I keep my nursing license current. I am all for people making whatever choice they want. Especially women. But here's the thing, arm yourself for the worst and hope for the best. If you are a SAHM because that is always what you wanted to be that is AWESOME. But anything can happen in life. Your spouse can get laid off, lose his job, become debilitated with a disease, die in an accident, or even leave you. You need to be prepared to provide for your family is the need arises.
